PUPPY GROWTH RATE

James Moyog
We human beings have our own growth rate chart from which we get to know how our development and growth is moving. We move from one stage to another with age and accordingly we experience different changes in our body and in our thinking also. Dogs also have their own such chart. Looking at this chart we will be able to know what to expect at what age and how to deal with the different stages. The growth rate of human being and dogs are very different. At age 1, a human baby is still an infant, but when a dog reaches the same age, it is an adult dog. The puppy growth rate is therefore much faster than the human growth rate along with puppy weight

The puppy growth chart helps us to know whether the health of the puppy is good, whether it is of the right weight and whether it is behaving normally. But the puppy growth and development will differ for each breed. A dog is a puppy till it reaches the age of 1 and therefore once the puppy becomes an adult, the chart will be different. There are many stages of Puppy Growth and Development. It starts from the moment it is born to the mother dog. The different stages are:

Newborn Puppy Growth and Development & Behavior up to 3 weeks

Puppy Growth and Development & Behavior between 3 to 7 weeks old

Puppy Growth and Development & Behavior between 7 and 12 weeks

Puppy Growth and Development & Behavior between 12 and 16 weeks

Puppy Growth and Development & Behavior between 4 and 8 months

Puppy Growth and Development & Behavior between 8 months to 1 year

Growth and Development & Behavior - 12 months old

The growth rate will differ according to the breed as discussed. The growth rate chart will show what to expect of the puppy right from when it is born. It is detailed information on the nutrition that the puppy needs at various stages, the development of the various body parts, the hours of sleep it needs, etc. it also tells us when the right time will be to house train the puppies and when to get the vaccinations for various diseases, etc. we will come to know that the puppy is not well by comparing the characteristics of the puppy to the puppy growth chart. This otherwise is a tough task and most of the time we are unaware of the problems in the puppies for sale.
