Online social media is a relatively new phenomenon, and something that not all people may understand fully. The term social media can refer to any kind of website that has a dominant amount of user created content. This includes not only social networking sites and video and picture sharing sites, but user edited encyclopedias and many other interesting web utilities. Most people consider social media to be predominately a realm of entertainment, but this doesn't mean that certain kinds of social media aren't incredibly helpful in some situations. One kind of social media, caller complaint sites, can be used to help stop telemarketer calls.
No one really wants to talk to telemarketers, but it can often seem unavoidable. After all, when they call, your caller ID usually gives a number but no name. If your caller ID said "telemarketer" you probably wouldn't answer the call. Of course, if you get calls from the same telemarketer repeatedly, you can come to recognize the phone number, and not answer it just as if it was flagged as dangerous.
