Stop Telemarketer Calls Using Online Social Media

Dwayne Eisen
Online social media is a relatively new phenomenon, and something that not all people may understand fully. The term social media can refer to any kind of website that has a dominant amount of user created content. This includes not only social networking sites and video and picture sharing sites, but user edited encyclopedias and many other interesting web utilities. Most people consider social media to be predominately a realm of entertainment, but this doesn't mean that certain kinds of social media aren't incredibly helpful in some situations. One kind of social media, caller complaint sites, can be used to help stop telemarketer calls.

No one really wants to talk to telemarketers, but it can often seem unavoidable. After all, when they call, your caller ID usually gives a number but no name. If your caller ID said "telemarketer" you probably wouldn't answer the call. Of course, if you get calls from the same telemarketer repeatedly, you can come to recognize the phone number, and not answer it just as if it was flagged as dangerous. This way, you can begin to slightly reduce the number of telemarketer calls you have to field.

Caller complaint sites take this concept to the next level, by letting users share information about telemarketer calls. Just as in our previous example, you'll be able to recognize numbers as belonging to telemarketers and ignore those calls. But now, you'll not only have your own experience to go on, but also be able to read complaints and posts made my thousands of other users. This means that you can compile a list of known telemarketer numbers that seems to stretch on for days, which can make it far easier than you ever thought possible to never hear another telephone sales pitch again.

While it might not yet be possible to stop telemarketing calls in their entirety, you can definitely make a really significant dent through proper use of a caller complaint site. Over all, you can relax, resting assured that when your phone rings, you won't have to worry about dealing with a telemarketer.
