North American Shepherd is a well balanced, athletic, and alert breed. It stands between 13-18 inches. Weighs around 15-40lbs. Their life expectancy is 12-13 years.
North American Shepherd is rapidly increasing in popularity among those interested in a compact dog with a strong work ethic.
North American Shepherd is notoriously eager to work unlike Australian Shepherd for sale. They are very fun to play with. They can be easily trained, but their intelligence and drive require obedience training and plenty of interesting activity. Once given a clear job to do, like guarding or companionship, they will thrive in a variety of environments, provided they have an adequate outlet for both physical and mental energy. They are especially popular in dog agility, and do well in other dog sports including herding, obedience, disc dog, and many other activities.
If they are not allowed adequate room to play, they may become destructive. They are social dogs and form close attachments to their owner. As a result, some may suffer separation anxiety even if you are only gone for a few minutes.
North American Shepherds are very social dogs for sale and a very good companion. They like to play with children and their guarding instincts make them very protective.
They are very good at training and easily learn various activities but they don´t respond well to harsh & strict training. They are, after all, "thinking dogs" and they sometimes exercise this intelligence at inconvenient times.
Their intelligence, sensitivity, and desire to please, combine to make them very trainable dogs. But all training should be undertaken from a positive and motivational. Most often, the dogs demonstrate a natural ability to adapt their games to the child's size and strength.
They can be territorial and should be introduced to other dogs with care. Again, many of these dogs have been raised with other dogs and carefully supervised.
