Open letter to President-Elect Barack Obama

Mark Anderson
To readers: please distribute my open letter everywhere and anywhere. I would like somebody from the Obama administration to get this open letter.

Congratulations on your electoral victory, President-Elect Obama.

I must confess that I did not vote for you. I voted for the Libertarian ticket.

One of my concerns, President-Elect Obama, is that the government has created a self-contained ecosystem. What I mean by that is that the only advice sought by central planners is from other central planners, or people nexused in with the state apparatus itself. It is an echo chamber that has created a homogeneity of thought. It is a calculus for no change, but a continuum of the status quo.

As an example: the solution to our economic problems. President-Elect Obama, the prevailing consensus around the beltway is that we can inflate and spend our way out of this mess. Opponents to this thinking have been side-lined.

Thus I submit to you, President-Elect Obama, this proposal: consult with a circle of counter-economic advisors. The criterion would not be based upon who has credentials from the most prestigious universities, but the creation of cross-ideological diversity. This would create heterogeneity, allowing for real discussion of the issues.

I make this request out of deep concern for the economy, and thus the country. If the economy goes down, we all go down. I love our country, President-Elect Obama. It is with sadness that I see current economic events unfolding. I only want what is best for this country, President-Elect Obama. Thus it is out of a spirit of love that I do what I do.

I will volunteer to take part in assembling this group of economists. Please have somebody get back to me through email (libertyeconomics@cox.net), if interested.

I can guarantee you, President-Elect Obama, that present course is only setting you up for failure, by becoming the scapegoat of our economic problems.

He credits the VA with having led him to the Austrian School of economics, since it was dealing with the corrupt VA that served as the impetus for his political epiphany.
