No More Useless Wars
Over three years ago, the American people were told that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Colin Powell stood before the American people with maps and diagrams pointing to possible locations of these weapons. There were none. The Secretary of State, Powell might as well have been pointing to the Bermuda Triangle. The mythical WMDs were invisible.
So, should we now believe that President Bush wants to handle Iran diplomatically? He didn?t handle Iraq diplomatically. He rid the world of a fraction of his famous ?axis of evil? and started a civil war at the cost of over 2400 young men and women. We started out by trying to hunt down Osama Bin Laden, but for some reason left the lecherous Al Qaeda leader behind in the mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Al Qaeda was behind the attack of 9/11, but we are now bogged down in an un-winnable civil war in Iraq. What happened? President Bush?s ?coalition of the willing? is falling apart in Iraq. More and more of the ?willing? are pulling their troops out of Iraq basically leaving the U.K. as our only staunch ally in the war-torn country. It is obvious that those once willing to fight this battle no longer have faith in the outcome.
Can the American people stomach another warfront? Can our leaders be trusted? Can we believe anything being told to us. I think the polls speak for us. In California alone, Bush?s approval ratings are at 32% approval and 62% disapproval. In the most recent Gallup Poll, 6 out of 10 Americans disapprove of how the President is handling his job. Americans want to trust the leader they elected, but the polls indicate otherwise. Americans cannot trust their president, nor do they find him to be an effective leader.
Common sense and statistics would weigh heavily against another war, or a second front. Americans have grown uneasy with the current war and will hopefully send a strong message to Mr. Bush and his cronies in the 2006 elections. ?No more useless wars!?
