And Now A Little Something From Your Old Telephone And Answering Machine

Hi everyone, this is your once reliable landline or cordless phone here with answering machine attached. Lately I have been observing how much your cellular/mobile phone means to you, and here is what I have managed to notice.
It seems to me that if you realize you have missed a cell phone call, most of you enter panic mode. You feel as if your world is crashing all around you or as if something drastic will occur, since you missed that one important call.
Or if you find out during the course of a day that you have misplaced, or forgot your cell phone at home, some of you start suffering from a temporary and mild case of depression. And go about the business of the day feeling as if a great part of your being is missing.
It´s almost as if this cellular telephone technology has been around throughout each generation of our lives and something no one can live without. But what about before this cellular phone came along and swept all of us away?
You had to wait until you got home at the end of the day to check your answering machine for missed calls. And did most people panic when their answering machines malfunctioned or stopped recording halfway through a message?
They must have had a few choice words to say to said machine and moved on. But there is a price to pay for everything, I guess. While your now archaic answering machine once made you more patient, it seems as though the cellular telephone has made you more impatient and stressed.
Impatient because without it you can´t text your buddy about something trivial or silly, and too stressed because if you miss that important call you are waiting for, panic enters the picture.
Oh and that answering machine that´s collecting dust in your attic or the junk pile, the pile I am in right now, you might want to consider dusting me off and putting me to good use again. You know, in case your all important cellular telephone decides to malfunction one day.
At least this way, I will be able to record your message, like I used to before your super cellular telephone came along and made you put me away for good.
