Age of No Reason: How the pseudo-revolutionaries are destroying Nepal

Bhumika Ghimire
After reading some of the comments in my blog(http://americannepali.blogspot.com) and emails from some very friendly people, I had to think seriously what has happened to something called "sense" or "soul" or say "reason". I guess with the rising wave of voilence in Nepal and around the world the gun has finally silenced the inner human voice.

I could not believe that someone can say that the Maoists are fighting a good cause or that they are liberators and that they should be supported. The reason Maoists took up arms and went into the jungle was to bring justice to people who continue to be oppressed by the rich fedual lords, the ethnic minorities under attack by the elite and the women who are denied their rights by the state and by the culture. Yes these are all god causes and I will gladly applaud any Maoists who has done anything to achieve these goals. But the reality is different. The Maoist movement has lost its way and now it is a band of angry people with guns and twisted ideas, a dangerous combination for Nepal.

They now believe that they can scare the poor villagers, who are already tormented by the Royal Nepalese Army and make them do whatever they want. They now believe that it is OK to bomb schools and kidnap school children. They now believe that it is OK to kill people in broad daylight infront of their family.

Why? Why these so called liberators have truned up againt the same people whom they were supposed to be protecting? The reason is because there are people in Nepal, who feel obligated to support these people with guns no matter what they do.Is this because of the gun they carry or the prospect of being called "revolutionary","pragmatic" or a "radical" that alludes these people, I don't know. But they are surely doing a lot to encourage the Moaists to escape justice and keep on their voilent acts.

The voice of reason was silenced in Nepal the day we allowed a criminal to become Crown Prince. Now the voice of soul and the voice of justice is being silenced by these pseudo revolutionaries, who live in the cities supporting those in the jungle, hoping that one they will get their reward. A reward of destroyed nation, destroyed society and a title of " revolutionary who fights for the people". I will be around to see them accept this award, I will see how they feel when they see that there is no one to applaud them for their reward. Their society, their people all gone.Let them stand alone with their honour.
