McCain drops the ball on UFO Disclosure and loses chance to win 2008 election

According to an article by Investigative Journalist – Leslie Kean who broke the story about the Fife Symington revelations in March 2007 along with Filmmaker James Fox:

Arizona Senator John McCain, a friend of Symington's who the former Governor describes as "open-minded," acknowledged at a press conference in 2000 that "lights," were seen over Arizona and, "That has never been fully explained. But I have to tell you that I do not have any evidence whatsoever of aliens or UFOs."

McCains´ Letter and response to a concerned Citizen – regarding the Phoenix Lights UFO´s.

October 9, 1997:

Thank you for contacting me last summer regarding the lights seen in the night sky west of Phoenix on March 13, 1997. I appreciate your interest in this curious incident, and I apologize for the delay in my reply.

As you may know, in May (1997) I asked the Department of the Air Force to look into the sighting at the request of Phoenix City Councilwoman Francis Emma Barwood. The Air Force informed my office in July that the Department no longer conducts investigations into UFO´s. Local military installations, however, did make an effort to resolve the issue by checking the flight information logs of their activities in the area on the evening of March 13, 1997.

The Arizona National Guard in Phoenix discovered that a visiting team from the Maryland National Guard, flying A-10´s, was conducting exercises along the Barry Goldwater range southwest of Phoenix on the evening of March 13, 1997. Between 9:30 pm and 10:00 pm the A-IO, were dropping high intensity magnesium flares, from an altitude of approximately 15,000 feet.

A spokesman from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson (the aircraft were operating out of Davis-Monthan AFB) indicated that these types of flares deployed at that altitude, could be seen from as far away as 150 miles. Upon completion of the exercise, the aircraft were required for safety purposes, to jettison all of their remaining flares over the Goldwater range prior to landing at Davis-Monthan.

I believe that these exercises, culminating in the release of many flares simultaneously, provide a reasonable explanation for the appearance of the peculiar looking lights on that evening. I am, however, monitoring the findings and postulations of organizations interested in aerial phenomena for other possible explanations and I encourage you to do the same.

Thank you for your interest. Please do not hesitate to contact me again in the future regarding this issue or any other issue of interest or concern.

Senator John McCain

Well of course Senator McCain didn´t have any evidence, because his embarrassingly myopic attempt to investigate the Phoenix Incident UFO´s was about as believable as Greg Brady´s attempt to trick his younger brother into believing a flashlight and a bed sheet was a UFO…

Even as a child watching the Brady Bunch, I knew that calling the Air Force to report a UFO would result in the standard "Blue Book," response. Perhaps the septuagenarian Senator from Arizona just forgot about the Brady Bunch episode, yet as a former Airman, Mr. McCain knew full well what the response of the Air Force would be…

After all, just because he was a fighter pilot in the 1960´s and a senator from the state where more UFO sightings occur, then nearly any other place on earth, that doesn´t mean that McCain would know that the Air Force would officially reply to his UFO request like it had to every other request in the past 40 years…Right?

To be honest, and to give the honorable Senator from Arizona the benefit of the doubt, I have waited over a year and half since his friend and former state of Arizona colleague and Governor - Fife Symington came forward to confirm that he too had witnessed a huge triangular UFO over Phoenix on March 13, 1997.

Symington went on to defy the military establishment to prove to the public that the craft seen that night was not a military craft…

In my previous article Phoenixgate, I waited with baited anticipation to see what would happen after the biggest turn around and revelation concerning UFO´s since The Phoenix Lights occurred on March 13, 1997. I fully expected that this would be the biggest news story on the planet, yet when the story broke, only a few local papers and a CNN interview with Anderson Cooper made it to the radar screen. Even today over a year and a half later, I doubt that one in a hundred people even know who Fife Symington is, let alone that he corroborated thousands of eyewitness reports of large triangular and boomerang shaped UFO´s over Phoenix.

No one could have ever expected, not least of all myself, that Symington would be the one to come forward and admit seeing a UFO.

He didn´t see flares, he didn´t see A-10´s flying in formation, nor any swamp gas in the desert, he saw a very real, very large, and very solid triangular shaped UFO. Being a former decorated U.S. Air Force pilot in Vietnam, (like his friend John) Symington was not only an extremely credible witness, but as a pilot, he also had the experience to back up such a claim. Since it was Symington´s spoofing of the incident that hurt the investigation of this case so badly in the first place, many eyewitnesses to these events, myself included, had to wonder why he would come forward now.

I have some unique insights into the answers to that question, but I will address them accordingly in a future article, Phoenixgate II.

But I think there comes a time in everyone´s life when we must grow up and become the people we were destined to be, no matter what the consequences. John McCain is a good man, and a patriot whose dedication to this country is difficult to question, and as a former military pilot, then prisoner of war, and now a Senator vying for the highest office in the land, no one can ever take that away from him.

However, concurrent with those admonishments of self worth and accomplishment, I think every man begins to evaluate their legacy when they realize that they have less years ahead of them, than they do behind them. Maybe they make a "bucket list," maybe they buy 11 homes or a nice sports car, each man is different and each man must decide what he is willing to live with and what he is willing to do to ensure his legacy continues.

Now that it seems all but sure that John will not win the 2008 election, I can´t help but think what might have been for John, had he been the "Maverick," he claims to be, and took it upon himself to launch a congressional investigation into UFO´s with the Phoenix Incident as a land mark case, I wonder if this might have been the thing that would have won him the election?

Having grown up in the poorest per capita income housing projects in the United States, if there is one thing that I have learned about adversity and controversy, it is that the difficult and tragic events that happen in our lives are the very things that form our character make us who we are.

For instance I ask myself - what would John McCain have been, had he not had the misfortune of being shot down, captured, and kept as a prisoner of war in Vietnam?

Would anyone remember his name today?

Would he still be called a "hero," for his five year stay at the Hanoi Hilton or would he be branded a "baby killer," like many other veterans of that war?

My point is that great men are made greater by the tragedies in their lives, not the triumphs. Great men are made greater by the obstacles they are forced to overcome, not by the accomplishments they achieve later on in life. And so this is how I feel about John McCain and his response to the Phoenix Incident – which occurred in his home state of Arizona.

Just before my grandfather died in the blizzard of 1978, because we the Ambulances picked up project people after they took care of the "paying," customers, he told me that, "adversity is what defines a man and reveals his true character, not the station to which he was born...don´t ever forget that."

Those were reassuring words from a man who was paralyzed from the waist down after being infected with the Polio Virus when he was 22 years old. With five kids and a wife to support he was forced to move from what would have been a comfortable life in the suburbs of Boston working as a 6th grade math teacher - to having to live in one of the poorest housing projects in Southie. It wasn´t that he didn´t have connections, being the grandson of the former mayor of Boston, Honey Fitzgerald, and a first cousin to President John "Jack" Fitzgerald Kennedy, he had his little black book of numbers that he could have called…but he refused to, "take any handouts."

But William Warwick II was a stubborn if not stoic man, who refused to take any handouts from his more wealthy family members nor anyone else for that matter. He would say many times over, "you just have to play the hand that god deals you, no matter what, you have to do the right thing, no matter what comes your way, you have to face your destiny head on… it´s the Warwick Way."

So after speaking to my good friend Francis Barwood at length about these events, as well as many of the key eyewitnesses of the Phoenix Incident during my eleven year investigation, I have come to the final conclusion that despite all of John McCain´s accomplishment´s he really dropped the ball when he whitewashed The Phoenix Incident.

Here is why I think John missed a tremendous opportunity to win the election.

I can understand John´s reticence on this issue back in 1997, before his former colleague and friend Fife Symington came forward to reveal what he saw, but I also find it quite ridiculous to think that the two most powerful men in the state of Arizona – never had a conversation about the Phoenix Incident either.

But after Symington´s shocking revelations in March 2007 – nearly 10 years after his spoofing of the incident, why didn´t John come forward to support and investigate his "friends," claims?

After all, if John had called for a congressional investigation, what fellow senator would have the audacity to have called John McCain a coward, a crackpot or unpatriotic nutcase?

Lost forever is not just the chance to win this election, but had he acted on the opportunity to investigate the Phoenix Incident and held congressional hearings into the matter, he could have captured the public´s attention and garnered their unending support as one of the most respected and powerful men in the Senate – who would have challenged him?

How many other state senators could boast having the Vice Mayor, the Former Governor and thousands of other citizens from all occupations, to testify as witnesses to the events that transpired on March 13, 1997 in Phoenix?

What John lost was not just the opportunity to investigate and then perhaps vindicate his own citizen´s claims of UFO activity, but he also lost a tremendous opportunity to win the hearts and minds of the people of this country – who so desperately need a "maverick," leader to guide us through these troubling times.

You are going to lose this election Mr. McCain – not because you are a bad person, not because you didn´t campaign well, or because you aren´t good enough for the job, you will lose this election because you chose to turn the other way when your fellow American´s needed you the most.

This country and the people of Arizona, gave you the opportunity to own 11 homes, but when they needed you to help them, you chose to look the other way.

If that is what you call being a Maverick, then you truly are a stud…

For not only did you choose to ignore the citizens of the state that has given you so much, but you also broke the cardinal rule of all honorable soldiers which says that you never leave a man behind.

Having spent 5 years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, I would have expected that after your friend and colleague Fife Symington came forward to set the record straight, you would have felt obliged as a fellow wingman and Vietnam Veteran to support your former colleague - Governor Fife Symington III.

Yet you remained reticent.

I can only hope that as John McCain realizes that the people will not elect him as the next president that he will realize in retrospect, that god handed him the opportunity to not just be president, but to change the course of human history and evolution by finally exposing the UFO lies, disinformation tremendous amounts of money that have been illegally siphoned from the public coffers.

Certainly, John knows full well, like many others in the government, where the 2.3 Trillion dollars Donald Rumsfeld reported to ABC was missing from the Pentagon budget on September 10, 2001…

Surely a good portion of that went to black line budget items for military bases that don´t exist, and there can be no doubt that much of this money has gone to reverse engineering alien recovered technologies. Perhaps no other single issue impacts not only our economy, but also our educational and other institutions as the UFO technology brain drain has finally bankrupted our economy, leaving America unable to compete in a global market for those goods that regular people buy, like TV´s and cars…

No only did John blow what might have been the last great chance for America to move forward and evolve into a space faring civilization with limitless possibilities for expanding the economies of the world, but he also lost the moral high ground that Barack Obama has now firmly taken over on other grounds.

Had John McCain taken the road less travelled, he could have also brought the whole human race along with him for the ride. I think John McCain has become so insulated from his core, that he has forgotten that it doesn´t matter how many homes you have, or how many men call you their friend because you gave them favors and other privileges reserved only for kings and queens - in return for their granting him the power he sought…

Well I have some bad news for you John, when you die, you can´t take any of those homes with you. When your soul reaches the pearly gates and your heart is weighed against the 42 negative confessions that allow your soul to enter heaven, what excuse will you give when your creator asks you why you ignored all the messages and signs that were shown to you?

If I was John´s age and as rich as he is, I would be more concerned about my legacy and what awaited me in the afterlife, rather than protecting those who have lied and stolen the life blood of the very country and people they were entrusted to protect and serve.

After all – it´s not like you are a poor working class 26 year old kid working his way through college as a plumber and having to worry about being fired from your job just because you reported a UFO…like I was…

What are you more afraid of John?

Being remembered as the first man in history to lose an election to the first minority president in history, or being remembered as the man that almost held a congressional hearing into UFO disclosure?

No you have the dubious distinction of being remembered for both…

With every recent poll showing that nearly 80% of the country believes that the government is covering up knowledge of UFO´s - it is still the one and only political and social topic that cuts across all social and demographic lines.

Never before have so many citizens believed or agreed in one idea, yet never again will you have the chance to be the supreme commander and leader of this country.

But alas – all is not lost for John McCain, for in the immortal words of General Macarthur, "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away…"

Is that how you want to go out John, as an old soldier that just fades away?

I am truly sorry, because I would have voted for you had you taken a stand on the UFO issue and I know that millions of other American´s would have done the same, and it is those same millions of American votes that you needed to win this election, that you now have lost.

So what happens after the election John, will you retire and fade away like a good soldier…???

Go golfing?

Or maybe go and buy yet another house – as if you needed it?

God handed you the keys to his kingdom John, and you choose to look the other way.

When God crippled and then took away my grandfather´s health, my family questioned whether God really existed, for how could God be so uncaring, we thought?

Yet, when confronted with extreme adversity, my grandfather took what would have been a handicap for most people and used his infirmity to better his fellow man. Back before there were any handicap laws he made sure, through is distant family connections, that anyone with a handicap got a first floor apartment in our housing project.

He learned very early on, that while most able bodied men would have to charm and cohort their way to get what they wanted, even the hardest fellow would succumb to feeling sorry for a guy in wheelchair with five kids living in the projects. So my grandfather used people's natural guilt to get then to do things, that they otherwise wouldn't have. Sometimes it was getting a project kid a job, somtimes it was getting someone admitted to college, but he always used his handicap to better others. As he would say, "who can so no to a guy in a wheelchair?"

When my grandfather was told by the local unemployment office that there were no jobs for him to do, he managed to get paid for watching TV and responding to the company that runs the Neilson ratings system. When my father got in trouble for hijacking a trainload of liquor from the Old Mr. Boston liquor factory just down the tracks from his home in the South Boston housing projects, he organized and started the first Boy Scouts troop in Southie – to get his family and the rest of the kids off the streets and give them something productive to do. For most project rats, going on a camping trip was the only time they ever got to travel outside of the city.

When his friend Jack Clifford was unable to kick his drinking problem, my grandfather was there to help him get sober and then helped him start his own roofing company and Jack is now a millionaire.

When another man needed to pass math to graduate from Southie High School, my grandfather took the time to tutor him so he could graduate.

So when I criticize John McCain for not know investigating the Phoenix Incident, it´s not like I can´t empathize with the man for what he went through in Vietnam.

After all – I know what´s it´s like to be held hostage by ruthless killers who used their power to emotionally, mentally and physically abuse their victims because I grew up in one of the toughest and poorest housing projects in America, right under the thumb of one of the most ruthless gangsters in history – namely James Whitey Bugler and his cohorts.

I know what it´s like to have a man stick a gun to your head and play Russian Roulette with you by pulling the trigger three times and thinking that the next click you hear will be the last thing you hear…

I know what it´s like to be beaten unconscious and left for dead in a vacant lot, thinking that you are going to die – only to regain consciousness and find yourself in a pool of your own blood, vomit and piss.

I know what it´s like to be involuntarily separated from the people you love and watch helplessly as your friends die slow and horrible deaths or commit suicide right in front of you while the world scarcely cares or notices…

I know what it´s like to be so hungry that you would eat food out of a dumpster and sleep on a concrete and dirt floor because there is no place else to go…

John McCain suffered these injustices in Vietnam for five years.

I endured these injustices along with my whole family for over 30 years, yet these things didn´t happen in another country, they happened in Southie, right here in America.

While John McCain fought the communists in Vietnam, my grandfather fought much more elusive enemies like poverty, ignorance and the injustices that accompany both.

So a part of me understands why John McCain has 11 houses, because deep down inside, like me, he is afraid that someday he might lose everything he has acquired and be forced to live like he did back in Vietnam…

Having survived all these things – I ask you now, what is the most important thing you have ever done in your life?

What has given you the most satisfaction and pride?

What happens on the day when you die?

Will you leave this earth and this plane of existence knowing that you have done everything you could to make the world a better place for your children or will you die regretting the lost opportunity to really change the world when you had a chance to do so…?

So John, when this election is over and you return to Arizona how will you spend the rest of your days on earth?

You can still be a senator, you will still have a very powerful political machine and the ear of the national and worldwide press, so what will you do?

What will you do John?

Will you make one last stand and become the Maverick outsider you have been boasting about now for months, or will you just be another soldier that fades away…?

It´s not too late to change things Senator McCain, it´s not too late to make your mark on history. With a constitutional lawyer as president and your leadership in the Senate, who could stop you and Barack Obama, who as you know is an accomplished constitutional lawyer?

What better way to show the world and your grand children what it is to be a great man

than to open up and lead the first congressional hearings on the UFO situation?

What are you afraid of?

No one can tell you what to do John, certainly not me but if I could give you any advice at all - it would be the same advice my grandfather gave me before dying:

It was a poem that he knew by heart…

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too:

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or, being lied about, yet not dealing in lies,

Or being hated, yet not giving way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;

If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim,

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same:.

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And still be able to stoop and build them back up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings,

And yet never breathe a word about your loss:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much:

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,

Then Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,

And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Then and only then will I call John McCain a hero…

Until that time, he will have to stand in the shadow of my grandfather´s old wheelchair and decide whether or not he wants to just fade away, or go down fighting like the true American Hero his supporters think he is…
