Austin Neighborhood Lake Pointe

Sam Chapman
About 20-30 minutes west of downtown Austin, the subdivision of Lake Pointe is a wonderful neighborhood. There are a number of things that make Lake Pointe special. First is the location. Not far from Austin in the beginning of the Central Texas Hill Country, Lake Pointe residents can be in downtown, at UT, on Lake Travis or at a number of parks and preserves in just minutes.

Important to anyone with children, Lake Pointe is served by Lake Travis Independent School District schools. The Lake Travis ISD has some of the best schools in the state. At the high school level, Lake Travis is known for not just superior academics. Lake Travis High School has also become well known as for state championship football as well as excellence in other sports, debate, music and much more.

The neighborhood itself is master planned with great amenities. Lake Pointe has a nice clubhouse and pool, playgrounds, tennis courts and access to Lake Austin. It is also home to Lake Pointe Elementary School, which is makes getting to school easy for people with kids in elementary school. Conveniences are all around with quick access to the Shops at the Galleria shopping center, the Hill Country Galleria Mall, the fabulous outdoor music venue the Backyard and a new regional hospital being built just 10 minutes away in Lakeway.

One side of Lake Pointe backs to a nature preserve. This consists of thousands of undeveloped acres of Hill Country land that offers excellent privacy and some amazing views. With Lake Austin at the base of the hills, some Lake Pointe residents have wonder lake views as well.

For people who love the outdoors, Lake Travis offers several marinas within 15 minutes. Hamilton Pool, Westcave Preserve, Pace Bend Park and Reimer´s Ranch aren´t far at all. These places all offer plenty of recreation. Whether you are a camper, a boater, a hiker or a mountain biker, there is plenty to do without having to drive more than about 30 minutes. There are also five golf courses within 15 minutes of Lake Pointe.

There are several sections in Lake Pointe – Lake Pointe, Vista Pointe and The Pointe. The majority of Lake Pointe offers fairly affordable Hill Country living. Vista Pointe offers more expensive homes built on a series of hills and there probably isn´t a home in this section without a fabulous view. Some homes look over the hills and some over the lake. In the back of the community is a gated section called The Pointe.
