We all know how to used a printed phone book. After all, it works in the same way as a dictionary for people´s names and contact information. You simply work with the alphabetical order of the person´s last name, or the business name. However, what not everybody is familiar with is a reverse phone search. After all, there is no printed phone book that works in order of the numbers. This is where the internet steps in yet again as a very useful tool.
The indexing and finding abilities of the internet allow for websites to seek throughout directories using various different variables. In the case of a landline, this includes the person or business name, the address, or the telephone number itself. However, this is not the same for mobiles.
There is a massive effort in place right now, trying to protect the privacy of wireless device carriers. The risk is too high that telemarketers will get a hold of cellular contact databases and then start phoning people who pay per minute. Cell phone users, the government, and service providers alike find this a very disagreeable situation. Therefore, only reverse queries are possible with cell phone numbers.
The reason these are allowed at all is that it is the right of people who receive calls from people using mobiles to be able to identify their callers. Therefore, they need to be able to use the digits as a searching term. And so, to answer the question in the title of this article, yes it is indeed possible to perform a backward investigation for a cellular phone number – in fact, it´s the only one possible.
Furthermore, to protect it further, it is considered a premium service and must involve a fee. The service cannot be free or it would invite too many abusers of the system, putting the privacy at risk once more. Therefore, if you see a site that claims that it´s offering a free reverse lookup for cellular phones, you should be aware that they are not being entirely honest. Avoid those sites altogether and look for a site that will be truthful.
