Carrying a Concealed Firearm

JACKSON, Wisc. – People who carry a concealed firearm for self-defense generally believe they are socially responsible, and they hope you to agree with them even if you do not own a gun.

Just over a year ago Tim Schmidt founded the U.S. Concealed Carry Association, and today he already has over 7,000 dues-paying members. They come from all walks of life, men and women, young and old, and from all ethnic backgrounds.

Schmidt is married, has three young kids, and a professional career. He has never been in the military or law enforcement, and he has no background in firearms training. He says he is just a “regular guy” who happens to believe in the right to carry a firearm for personal protection.

Schmidt was looking for a way to unite with other like-minded people, so he formed the U.S.C.C.A. In just over a year he has over 7,000 members and continues to grow rapidly as more people learn about his group. The group has a website at www.USCCA.us.

We believe that it is not wrong to want to defend your own life if necessary,” said Schmidt. “Through the U.S.C.C.A. we promote concealed carry as a socially responsible lifestyle. We do not believe that guns are good, or bad. Guns are a tool that must be used responsibly and properly.”

Members of the organization receive a membership card, as well as “Concealed Carry Magazine” eight times a year. The publication is printed in color, containing professional articles with in-depth reader profiles, training, gun and gear reviews, and lots of plain old common sense.

Each issue also contains a series of true stories, telling how the availability of a gun saved a life.

A responsibly armed citizen is not looking for a fight, and I’m sure hopes that he or she will never have to use a firearm for defense. But when the unthinkable happens the armed citizen, who is responsible and trained, can save lives,” explained Schmidt.

Although there are other gun organizations, the U.S.C.C.A. is the only group specifically dedicated to concealed carry.

We believe in the Second Amendment. We support the individual inalienable, natural-born right to self protection, and we invite like-minded Americans to join with us to preserve and protect that right,” said Schmidt.
