Pearl Stewart, the chair of the Black College Communication Association, encourages greater interaction and advisement between Caucasian faculty members and students of color. The purpose of the research was to enhance academic student performance and retention rates for students of color and diverse cultures. Pearl Stewart gives several examples of how Caucasian faculty members can improve relationships with students of color. Student advisement is one of the most important roles placed upon faculty members at colleges and universities. One of the most important techniques that can be done to improve advisement between Caucasian advisors and students of color is self-awareness. According Pearl Stewart research, the main goal of academic advisement is to assist students in the development of meaningful educational goals.

Burrell Pope, Ed.S

Burrell Pope writes, teaches, and speaks about issues that are concerning everyday people. He has worked directly with people for the last 16 years. He has worked in the full time ministry as a marriage counselor and teacher and now works as a school administrator. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgia State University, and earned both his Masters and Specialist (an advanced graduate degree) degrees from Cambridge College. He will complete his doctorate degree in May. He is currently working on two books, which should be published by the end of the year.
