McCain's Mob

Stan Grimes
One has to wonder about crowd psychology. That is, when bunches of people get together they act differently than they would under a normal setting…say at home or at work. But, when they are in the protection of a crowd they say and do things that are often out of character for them. Let´s hope this is the case of the recent crowds following John McCain and his sidekick, Sarah Palin.

CNN reported anecdotal incidents depicting crowd members yelling the words "treason" and "kill him" in their crowded rallies. Of course, every crowd has its whackos. Believe me I have seen them at football games, baseball games, and of course old movies of Hitler´s Third Reich marches, not that I am making any comparisons to McCain´s Mobs to such dastardly behavior. Even the implied introductions or referrals to Obama´s middle name, "Hussein," can be defined as typical grade school behavior or adult crowd behavior. I blame it on that because I certainly wouldn´t deep inside want toconsider it as a scare-tactic to make the McCain Mobs think about Barack´s shady past.

At these McCain Mob Rallies, the good senator and his partner´s attempt to shroud Barack Obama´s past in mystery and darkness by asking. "Just who is Barack Obama?" They ask like it´s a major secret. I personally ask, "Just who is Sarah Palin?" She´s only been in the race for what, six weeks? We know less about her little dealings in the great state of Alaska than we´ll ever know about Senator Obama´s. Seems there could be some skeletons in her closet. I hear them rattling in desperation to be heard. Perhaps we´ll learn more about "troopergate´ and her connections to the ultra radical Alaskan Secessionist movement.

Another thing that I question, John McCain can bring to question Obama´s supposed tainted background, but can´t voice his fear and trembling face to face with his opponent? Leader? I think not. Angry old white man? I think so. He´s currently getting his butt beat by a man of color with a terrorist-sounding name, Barack Hussein Obama. He´s surely a closet-terrorist. After all, he had dealings with an old guy that tried to bomb the trade center, but apparently changed his ways and now teaches college.

I worry however about the Tom Bradley effect. Will diehard Democrats walk into voting booths on November 4th and push the Republican button? Some will but I hope not many. I hope that the sordid days of prejudice and discrimination are behind us. We are a better people than that. Of course you´re going to have the Bubba effect, i.e., some good ol´ boys wouldn´t vote for a Black man if his life depended on it. But again, we are better than that.

Their lives just might depend on it. If Senator McCain wins and (God forbid) something serious happened to him…he is seventy-two, Sarah Barracuda would become President of the United States. That is scary, very, very scary. She would not be able to see Russia from the Whitehouse, but she would hold the codes to nuclear launches.
