Greek Macedonia
To begin with, the word itself is of Greek origin, and it is derived from "macednos" which means in translation tall. The language spoken by the Macedonians was of Doric origin, an ancient Greek dialect. It should also be noted that the names Alexander, and Philip are purely Greek names. In addition, Aristotle, Alexander's mentor and teacher, is universally acknowledge to be an ancient Greek philosopher. It should also be noted that Aristotle was born in Stagira, Macedonia.
The area now known as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, FYROM, was originally named Vardarska Bonovina. Tito renamed it the Republic of Macedonia mainly because he wanted to take over Greek Macedonia and its vital seaport in Thessaloniki. It was for this reason that Tito after WW II was aiding and abetting communist incursions into Greek territory.
It should be noted that the country was admitted to the United Nations with the name the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia on condition that the name is to be negotiated with Greece. To date, the irredentist agenda promoted by Tito has not changed. FYROM refuses to negotiate the name with Greece and continues to falsify and distort the history.
Very truly yours,
Athanasia Gregoriades
