CONSPIRACY THEORIES - What Would You Do In The Same Situation?

Steve Bass
I have always been trained to look at things from as many points of view as possible, given the circumstances. Like other Ufologists, I have spent many a day considering and researching such as the Roswell Incident, and have wondered how far the U.S. Government is involved. In my opinion, UFOīs are a reality, and some UFOīs are intelligently controlled. So what does a government do when facing a seemingly more technically advanced race, a force its own people is not aware of?

Out of necessity, you would have to initially conceal something like the Roswell Incident. In 1947, an alien craft reportedly crashed outside of Roswell, NM. The U.S. Government recovered the remnants of an alien spaceship with its incredible technology, and reportedly at least one living extraterrestrial biological entity. The psychological impact on the American public not withstanding, it is an incredible intelligence coups. As such, numerous countriesī intelligence apparatus would move into full swing in the direction of America, making it close to impossible to hide any technological advances gained. How long you would conceal it is an argument for another day.

Let us look into this from two directions. The first point of view is that relations with an alien race is friendly, or at least positive, and that race is wishing to expand relations with at least America, maybe the entire human race. The second point of view is that the relationship is troubled, confrontational, and even hostile. Both are probable and both should be considered.

Many envision a positive relationship with alien civilizations. Some even look to alien civilizations to solve Mankindīs problems. Aliens would bring an end to wars, famine, disease, maybe even obesity (ever see an overweight Gray?). Sometimes, people prefer to avoid responsibility and imagine that someone else will fix their woes for them.

So we have a situation where friendly aliens have inadvertently crashed near an American city. At least one alien survived the impact and is more than willing to share information about their civilization and technology.

The problem is that the Earth is still a divided world. America just came out of a second world war, and is entering a cold war with the USSR. We would soon have disagreements (to say the least) with Cuba, North Korea, North Vietnam, China, Iraq, and Iran, to name a few. This is not an environment that lends itself to a sharing of technology gained by America.

If America maintains plausible deniability, it would be easier to throw other intelligence agencies off track, especially if rumors are circulated that confuse the scent, so to speak. We can only imagine what would happen if an enemy intelligence apparatus or one that is less than trustworthy (are any?) was able to supply itīs government or itīs employer with advanced technology, the likes of which could rapidly subjugate the United States. Needless to say, our quality of life would be extremely affected negatively!

Serious UFO investigators and researchers believe that our relationship with the intelligence that controls these unidentified crafts is adversarial at best. Note that I said the relationship is adversarial, not the aliens themselves. But what does that mean? The government of the United States of America is mandated to protect its citizens and their livelihood. One of the major factors to be considered is the psychological impact its citizens would experience. An often referred to study by the Brookings Institution entitled Proposed Studies on the Implications of Peaceful Space Activities for Human Affairs yields interesting conclusions in the area of citizen reaction to a belligerent advanced entity. Public morale could stagger, religion could be detrimentally affected, and the governmentīs ability to govern its people might be lessened. Some people could lose their belief in a higher being, and could begin to give credence to the completely unsubstantiated theory that human beings were created in a lab experiment by the very entities that crashed in the New Mexico desert in 1947. What could that mean to the collective human ego? That continues to be an unexplored arena of study. Of course, in my opinion, if these alien beings cannot keep their craft from crashing, how can we believe that they created so much beauty? I would much prefer to believe in an omnipotent, omniscient Creator.

You have to remember that this Brookings study was commissioned in the early 1960īs, and the American citizen is a much different person now, much more open minded and in ways more knowledgeable, with ready access to many portals of information via the internet.

Do I give the Federal government too much credit? I might. This is the same government that canīt rise above partisan politics during an intense economic crisis. This would be a very good reason an MJ-12 type group would be established, to facilitate rapid handling of extraterrestrial incidents without the involvement of partisanship.

So yes, many might enjoy a good conspiracy theory, and some of the theories might even be more than that. A good litmus test might be exploring the reasoning around why something would happen in the first place, and working from there. Donīt propagate a theory only on the grounds of its sensationalism quality.
