COLORADO CLINCHES PLAYOFFS WITH 16-11 WIN

The Colorado Mammoth clinched a berth in the 2006 NLL Playoffs, by defeating the Arizona Sting, 16-11, at Pepsi Center on Sunday evening. Jay Jalbert was stellar in the win, scoring five goals, including three in the fourth-quarter. As a result of the victory, Calgary and Portland also clinch a playoff berth, leaving Arizona and San Jose to battle for the fourth and final spot in the West.

With the Mammoth clinging to a 10-9 lead heading into the fourth quarter, Jalbert scored only 1:38 into the period to start a four goal run for Colorado. The Mammoth led 14-9 before the Sting answered with two quick goals, but Jalbert answered back again and Tom Ethington sealed the win with a power-play goal.

Ethington (2 goals, 2 assists) and Josh Sims (2 goals, 1 assist) also were impressive on the Colorado offense. Chris Levis (32 saves, 5 goals against) and Gee Nash (21 saves, 6 goals against split time in goal for the Mammoth.

Arizona was led offensively by Dan Dawson (3 goals, 1 assist), Curt Malawsky (3 goals, 1 assist), Craig Conn (2 goals, 1 assist) and Matt Brown (2 goals, 1 assist). Rob Blasdell played most of the game, recording 30 saves and allowing 13 goals.

Arizona will travel to Calgary next weekend to battle the Roughnecks on Saturday, April 8th at 9:30 PM Eastern / 7:30 PM Mountain at Pengrowth Saddledome. The Mammoth's next game is at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, also on Saturday, at 7:30 PM Eastern as they take on the Bandits.
