Open letter to John McCain from Middle America

Alan E. Moses
Dear John,

I must begin by saying that you will always be a hero to me. Your service and stance during the Vietnam conflict is unquestionable, Your 26 years as a United States Senator is nothing but admirable. I have agreed with you at times and yet not at most.

I was once as is known today as a Reagan Democrat. This was a long time ago. President Reagan inspired me to believe that our better days were ahead. The enemy to our way of life was the Soviet Union. As FDR implemented government programs that brought us out of depression, JFK allowed us to believe again, Ronald Reagan took on the enemy to our way of life and was cool, calm and collected. Unlike you John such a reactionary, temperament that in truth is dangerous. You have shown time and again that you will play politics when unity is required.

I hope that you understand that allowing me so much freedom I have strayed. You were not there at night or on the weekends. In truth I was only allowed to make mistakes that neither one of us can handle. We must separate and find new paths to follow.

Our entire way of life has changed John. Being happy or at the least satisfied is almost impossible. John it costs me almost $9.00 just to visit my father one on one in the same county. Television, phone, and internet cost me over $100.00 a month. Electric and gas costs another $200.00, my rent is low just by chance at $425.00. Car insurance is $60.00 as my renters insurance is $15.00.

Should I include food and the fact that I have no health insurance? Just when will I see? When will I see a real change in how our government works? Am I to be delegated to the shot in the distance as Sarah Palin shoots another wolf from the air?

You left me John, I am no longer important to you. I am only Middle America. Can you please stop playing the games that you are? I don´t even have one home and yet you have seven. Explain to me why you need 7 homes. John can´t you see?

Many don´t own 7 homes as that is the hourly wage. My car is 21 years old because I can´t afford the payments for a new one. Please explain how to receive health insurance. I have to have money to eat. Please explain why my parent´s, one a WWII vet and the other that worked 12 to 14 hours a day in retail are both broke and unable to pay their bills on time.

Sorry John, but it is over as you have not been truthful to me. You have been playing games that you promised were never going to happen. I still need you (Senate) but you could never be someone that I would follow.

Respect, Thoughts and Prayers,

Average American
