Deregulator John McCain playing politics with economic crisis

Alan E. Moses
Republican nominee McCain is pulling the wool over the eyes of the American taxpayers once again. As many understand it is the deregulation over the past 28 years that has lead us into this crisis not seen since the crash of ī29. The Republican Party has lead the way on this issue claiming that less government is what promotes better business. The Republican Party has promoted the globalization of our economy. It is the Republican Party that promotes borrowing billions and trillions of dollars to run government while giving even larger tax breaks to those very entities that have caused this crisis.

Who pays? The American taxpayers of today and years to come will foot the bill. John McCain has been claiming that our economy was fundamentally sound since he began his campaign for the presidency. Obama and the Democrats have been warning that Middle America was in fact suffering. The middle class have watched as the Republican Party continues to spend billions of dollars on a war in Iraq that was started by manipulating the facts. The middle class has watched as their incomes canīt match the true cost of living. The middle class looses ground every year as once good paying jobs leave our shores so that those on Wall Street can increase profits.

John McCain has supported this take from those with less to pay for the whims of those with the most. "Robinhood in reverse." That explains his belief that the economy is sound, that the war in Iraq was justified and that we need to continue the same policies that have created the problems we face today. Global warming is in part due to the McCain theory of less government regulation. You can go on and on and follow his voting record for the past 26 years and see that John McCain is all for the true Elite in the business world.

Now McCain agrees to even more giving to the very corporations that are at fault by creating what has long been known as welfare for the rich. Where is he when millions of Americans suffer without healthcare? Where is his plan on a true and fair educational system for all? To answer these questions he asks "How would we pay for it?"

McCain is playing politics and nothing more at every turn. Choosing Gov. Palin as his running mate without really even knowing her at all, keeping her from those that will ask questions about her background and understanding of the international scene, suspending his campaign yet seeking every opportunity for a press conference and photo op. This is politics in its truest form. After 26 years of being in Washington he has learned the craft of manipulation very well.

John McCain knows nothing about what the vast majority of Americans struggle with. McCain is proving this by the way his campaign is being run. It wasnīt long ago that we heard the now famous remarks "Itīs the economy stupid". This year it should be "Itīs our future stupid". The game of greed by the rich and abuse of the middle class are over. We have an energy crisis, economic crisis and a middle class in crisis both financially and culturally. The time has come for us to look at what is best for the average American not those perched at the top 10%. We donīt need McCain playing games.
