Christening Dresses
Mothers begin to search for that beautiful christening dress a few weeks before the christening, where as some mothers are so excited that the shopping begins when they are in their pregnancy itself. The good luck about searching the christening dress is that you don´t have to wonder if it is has to be blue or pink. As all dresses are pristine white.
And yes they are dresses. Not tops and pants or any other fancy panorama that flit around newborn babies. The dress has to have cute collars, short sleeves and is long and flowing. It could even flow over the baby´s legs.
While you are out searching for the dress along with the pattern keep in mind the ultimate comfort of the baby. As your baby is just born, the material has to be soothing and soft, comforting your cuddly pie. So feel the fabric from inside and out. Especially inside, it has to be supple and should not graze against the baby´s skin.
Materials mostly used for the dress are satin, silk and cotton. The lining is usually of cotton with silk flowing over or the entire dress inside out is made of satin. You can match it with beautiful white satin booties and a soft elastic cotton ring on the forehead. So cute! Wrap your baby is a lace shawl and see everyone praise your beautiful baby.
If the christening is held in the cooler seasons make sure you have kept a woollen shawl at hand. Pull the cap over the ears and wrap the baby in something thick. Also keep a hand sanitizer in your purse for someone who wants to lift the baby. And yes you are in charge so do not let anyone and everyone lift the baby. You can say a polite ´no´ as your baby is too fragile and vulnerable to people´s diseases.
