Can Loneliness Be Bad For One's Health?
Depending of course on how far one is willing to live just so he or she can have some quiet alone time.
What happens though when one is so far removed from his or circle of friends, family and others with whom he socializes that he starts to feel lonely? Do thoughts of depression, and feelings of isolation pervade one’s soul then? If so, then can loneliness effect one’s health?
According to recent study into the matter it was found that yes, lonely persons over the age of fifty can suffer from high blood pressure which can ultimately lead to heart problems.
In addition, it has also been determined that loneliness can also lower one’s immune system, making such individuals more susceptible to colds and or flu viruses.
Computer and internet technology have made our lives much easier by providing continuous ways for people to stay in touch, but maybe it’s the human element we need the most; for the sake of our own well being.
Most people are happier when they have some one with whom they can share some bits of conversation or time with. Remove that human element for an extensive period of time and one can start entertaining rather despondent thoughts.
For it’s when some one is laughing or enjoying the company of another with whom he or she is comfortable, he feels happy.
If one feels happy, he has no room to allow depressing thoughts to enter his mind. The happier one is, so is his immune system and his blood pressure level will also be at a controllable rate.
Enjoying a little alone time is good, but extensive periods of loneliness is not. No matter how much we fight, quarrel or fuss with our friends, or family members, we all need each other.
For being with those we fuss with the most can someday save us from having to succumb to loneliness which can lead to negative aspects of life that can make one feel depressed and weak as time progresses.
