A Medical Mistake of "Hunger Hormone Suppression" Articles

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Elhashemy
Among over 70 articles written starting September 16th, 2008 on internet, many of these articles were incorrect concerning the blood vessel that was embolized in the research done by Dr. Aravind Arepally of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, who led the study. These articles said that blocking varicose veins of the stomach leads to lowering the secretion of Hunger Hormone "Ghrelin" at the fundus of the stomach.

Anatomically and surgically, to block the blood supply to the fundus we have to embolize the afferent (gastric artery) and not the efferent (venous drainage).

It is worth to mention that I have wrote five articles starting June 26th, 2008 impressing for the first time in the dieting literature the significance of the fundus area of the stomach in managing satiety, and I called that area ELHASHEMY'S STOMACH SATIETY SPOT "ESSS". Boosting such spot leads to sensation of satiety even when we eat Luqaimat-sized meals, and hence greater weight loss than any other dieting method.

I think that there is no need to embolize the gastric artery, although it is a minor surgical procedure, because if we take daily 3 Luqaimat nuts (5 pieces each) at quarter hourly intervals, we can approach a very high level of gastric satiety within few weeks.
