The old age Gurukul way of imparting education has the virtue of the guru-shishya (teacher-student) tradition. Teachers in India continue to have the highest respect and knowledge is the supreme gift to children. Several methods in teaching are being adopted by the Indian education system, which is constantly being improved through reviews by the Education ministry. The standard state board is diversifying into more ICSE and CBSE schools. Private run schools also offer the IB - International Baccalaureate boards. Many affiliations are also being seen with foreign universities, where the value of Indian education system is enhanced.

Students in India have an edge with English medium schools as they follow the perfect grammar and diction. Practical skills are getting more accentuated in all schools. Teachers are undergoing constant training and their evaluation is also done on a regular basis. Many schools teach skills to parents like phonics, origami or math lessons to simplify and standardize teaching principles.

Schools observe traditional days and the celebrations are unbiased about religion. The spirit of independence and patriotic fervor is regularly followed with prayers and songs. Participation in competitions brings about a change in the personality of the child . This is the best way to hone talents or at least curb the fear of public speaking. Sports and cultural festivals in school is necessary for the overall development of the child.


There are several undergraduate and post graduate programs conducted by state level universities. Distance learning in India is getting famous in a big way as there is greater facility for students who have career commitments. Online classes and tutorials in India are also the latest trend. Scholarships in school levels begin at a keen age.

PhD facility in India is also a niche category.

Research activities and libraries are undergoing a great deal of improvement to facilitate students. There are several grants given to school, colleges and universities to open up in all parts of India. The Ministry is also looking into improving adult education with the help of night schools. Socially backward communities and educating the girl child is done by formulating educative plans. Banks are also encouraged to disperse educational loans to students to avail financial assistance.
