Midnight freedom protests in Indian Kashmir
Hundreds of youth took to roads in the evening at Maisuma in summer capital Srinagar and staged anti-India protest demonstration. Carrying torch-lights, the agitating youth were raising pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India demonstrations.
The Indian Kashmir has witnessed one of the biggest ever anti-India and pro-freedom marches in the recent past. According to estimates 1.8 million people participated in one of the freedom marches organized by the separatist leadership.
The agitating youth at Maisuma, Srinagar were protesting against the killing of unarmed protestors in police firing and detention of the separatist leaders.
"We will continue our protests and will continue to offer our chests to the bullets being fired by Indian troopers," said one of the protestor, Aijaz Ahmad.
The protest demonstration remained peaceful and after an hour-long protest, the youth dispersed off.
The anti-India and pro-freedom night long demonstrations were also held at Lazibal in South Kashmir. The residents of the area alleged that pro-government gunmen barged into a residential house and forcibly took away the house owner alongwith them.
Later, an announcement was made through public address system of mosques asking people to come out on roads and stage a sit-in. During the sit-in, people raised anti-India, anti-army and pro-freedom slogans. They were demanding freedom from "Indian occupation".
The protestors alleged that the Indian para-military personnel and pro-government gunmen have let loose a reign of terror in the area and have made their lives miserable. "They are forcing their entry into the residential houses and arresting youth, who participated in the freedom marches," said an elderly person, Abdul Samad.
