Pinworms Infection

Pinworms are intestinal infections that are generally caused by tiny parasitic worms. Pinworms are type of little worm that commonly infects the intestines, often in kids. Many of the kids generally had pinworms at one time, and the worms are nothing to be afraid of. Many scientists have made an estimate that there are more than 40 million cases in the United States each year of pinworms.

Although anyone is caused by pinworms, they are most common in children aged 5-14 years. Pinworms live in your intestines and survive by taking the nutrient from your food.

Symptoms

Many pinworms have no symptom or the cause a minor problem. The most common symptom of pinworms is an itchy rectal area. Symptoms reach to the worst position at night when the worms are most active and crawl out of the anus to deposit their eggs. Although pinworm infections can be annoying, they do not cause any serious health problems and are usually not dangerous.

Who are at highest risks?

Many cases of pinworms found in the United States. Preschoolers follow many school-age children and they have the highest rates of infection. In some groups nearly 50% of children are infected. Infection often occurs in more than one family member. Adults are less likely to have pinworm infection but mothers´ whose children have pinworm can be caused by this infection. Childcare centers and other institutional settings often have cases of pinworm infection.


Prevention

If you want to get save yourself from infection of pinworms you should follow the tips and that are you have to remind kids to wash their hands after using the toilet, after playing outside, and before eating. Make sure your kids shower or take bath daily and also change inner clothes daily. Keep fingernails of kids short and clean. If your child has a pinworm infection, all members of your family will need to be treated with medication to help prevent the infection from coming back.
