The Fifth Popular Diet … Is The Best
They found that following any of the four diets did result in a drop in body weight by about 8 – 11 pounds compared to the non-dieting controls, but there was no significant difference between the diets in the amount of weight lost.
In another study, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, 17 July 2008, and performed by dietitians leaded by Dr. Iris Shai, found that 3 of the most popular diets (Low-Carb diet, Low-Fat diet, and Mediterranean diet) do not work well. The researchers in the study monitored dieters who followed these three popular diets for 2 years.
Those researchers found that average weight loss was 7 - 10 pounds after 2 years of continuous dieting procedure under any of these 3 top popular diets. Researchers deduced that the results sound very modest, which means that even the most popular diets do not work well. Losing 10 pounds on a diet instead of losing 7 pounds on another diet is not that big of a difference, and none of these results sound particularly encouraging to any extremely obese person who has to lose 100 pounds or more.
In contrast, my innovated Luqaimat diet (Jan 2005) gave over 88 pounds weight loss after 1.5 years for patients with BMI 45, and gave 36 pounds loss for patients with BMI around 31, to be compared to merely 10 pounds loss in average for patients in Dr. Shai study.
I think that it is not scientific to judge the efficiency of a diet plan after a 2-months period, which is of no significance in the timeline of an obese person's life. Any research in the field of obesity management should extend long enough to detect weight loss after 2 years as performed in Dr. Iris Shai research. The best scientific diet plan is the one which:
1. Allow eating all nutritional food requirements, and any favorite food.
2. Can be maintained lifelong without difficulty as a lifestyle.
3. Induce reasonable weight loss, around 100 pounds after 2 years.
Based on these criteria, Luqaimat diet surpasses all these diets in achieving dieters' goals.
