2 trained militants arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sept 3: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two trained militants belonging to Pakistan based militant groups, Lashkar-e-Toiba and Al-Badar from North Kashmir.

A top police officer said that police managed to arrest top militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba from Wadar, Handwara in North Kashmir. Identifying the arrested militant as Shabir Ahmad Magray alias Umar Khitab, the police officer said that he was a trained militant. He claimed that a hand grenade and some ammunition was recovered from his possession.

The police officer further claimed that a militant owing allegiance to Al Badar was arrested from Mawar, Handwara in North Kashmir. He identified the arrested militant as Irshad Ahmmad Shah alias Bhai. “The arrested militant was working directly under the command of Al-Badr Commander Tamim Ahmad, a Pakistani national,” the police officer said. He claimed that two hand grenades were recovered from his possession.


The police officer said that the questioning of the arrested militants is going on.

On Tuesday, police claimed to have arrested three militants owing allegiance to pro-Pakistan militant group, Hizbul Mujahideen from South Kashmir.
