Want To Be Skinny? The Price You Pay May Be Trouble

Daniel Jaffe

It is in to be thin. Especially if you are a woman. A slender figure may be an advantage in most areas of life in the United States. However, there is one place where a low body weight is a severe disadvantage.

Any DUI attorney with experience will tell you that when a small woman comes into the office with a drunk driving citation, her alcohol level is probably going to be high.

Body alcohol content is largely dependent on number of drinks and body weight. The problem for lighter people (men and women) is that when drinking socially, they usually tend to try to keep up with their heavier cohorts. For somebody under 100 pounds, a couple of drinks can get you arrested.

Lighter people who drink regularly tend to develop a greater alcohol tolerance. This does not mean that their body alcohol level does not rise. It simply means that they function better at higher alcohol levels.

So if you are a light person, think twice before keeping up with your friends while drinking. What may be harmless for them could become a DUI arrest for you. For more information, consult a DUI body alcohol chart.
