If you are reading this article then probably like many others you have seen the flashing red lights on your Xbox 360 console. Just like with most things red does mean that there is a problem. This article will tell you for different problems that the red lights can mean and also give you a method to repair the problem.

The first problem is indicated if on the power button the red light is flashing in the bottom right. This error can normally bring uP a message on the screen saying that there is a problem and you need to ring customer support. The problem is caused by a scaler chip error and normally have something to do with a faulty AV cable.

The second problem that you can get is indicated by two flashing red lights one on the top left and one on the bottom left of the power button. This problem simply means that your console is overheating and to fix it you can try and vacuum all the dust out the side vents and the back, and this may fix the problem!

The third problem is indicated by 3 red flashing lights and this is the most severe! It means that you have a general hardware error and the problem is normally caused by one of the components inside the Xbox overheating and the soldering becoming loose. To fix this problem you need to know how to stop the build up of heat getting to the GPU and the CPU which deal with all the main processing of graphics on the console.

Lastly the final error that the red lights will show for is when all four quadrants are flashing red. This is not really a big problem are normally means that your AV cable is not plugged in properly. If you check back of your Xbox and that the AV cable is firmly plugged in and also check connection to the television you should be up and running.

So in essence if you have the one red light error, or three red light error then you should ring Microsoft customer support and they will arrange pickup your Xbox for you and get it fixed. The only downside is you do have to wait for 3 to 4 weeks to get your Xbox back.

I hope this article has helped you figure out what is wrong with your Xbox and that you get it repaired soon!
