The Advanced Civilization vs. Basic Human Rights
Wikipedia defines EXOPOLITICS as the study of possible political relations between humanity and extraterrestrial civilizations, including political characteristics of extraterrestrial civilization. The burgeoning field of exopolitics addresses the establishment of a political framework between Mankind and any other alien civilization, how all would interact with each other, decide conflicts, demonstrate mutual respect, etc. At this time, it is largely conceptual since open contact between the two (or more) races has yet to be made.
We concern ourselves with what we believe is expected of us, without being strong enough to consider what we should expect of them. We constantly read of horrifying abductions, some of which involve medical experiments. Most of these abductions terrify those being kidnapped, but they continue unheeded. Unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), commonly referred to in the mainstream as UFO“s, endanger civilians in many ways, such as by interfering in air travel. The United States enacted restrictions on air travel over crowded or sensitive airspace and monitor for these incursions relentlessly. Private pilots who fly over restricted airspace are subject to fines, loss of privilege, and sometimes prison time in lieu of 9/11. Since the World Trade Center attacks, the military is constantly employed in interceptions with the option of deadly force, shooting down the aircraft if the pilot is uncooperative or evasive.
On October 9, 1951, a UAP was seen in the vicinity of Hulman Municipal Airport in Terre Haute, Indiana. To make matters worse, the UAP was then observed flying toward the Newport Atomic Plant.
On April 19, 1984, a UAP was observed by air traffic controllers landing and taking off again at an airport in eastern England.
On November 7, 2006, a large craft was seen hovering over the United Airlines terminal of Chicago“s O“Hare International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world. This was witnessed by numerous pilots, flight crews, and employees of United, as well as possibly by air traffic control personnel.
UAP“s also interfere with aircraft in-flight, endangering crews and passengers. On October 21, 1978, pilot Frederick Valentich was flying in his Cessna over the Bass Straits in Australia, when he had an encounter with an unidentified object that he never returned from. In the moments before his disappearance, he was in constant contact with air traffic control. Valentich reported the UFO at times following, at times flying in front of his aircraft, describing it as a long shape. He also complained that the UFO was directing a light into his cockpit. Valentich“s final words were, "...that strange aircraft is hovering on top of me again. It is hovering and it's not an aircraft." Several seconds of open microphone followed, where the talk button is depressed, but no talking is heard. During this time metallic-like sounds were heard. Air traffic controllers were unable to reestablish contact with Valentich, and an intensive search and rescue operation was conducted with no results.
In November, 1986, three unidentified objects paced Japan Airlines Flight 1628 near Alaskan airspace, at times flying directly into their flight path and shining lights into the cabin. Radar contact with the anomaly was maintained by Anchorage Air Traffic Control, and the military radar at Elmendorf Regional Operational Control Center also picked up the crafts.
A mile-long UFO was reported by a commercial airline pilot with Aurigny Air Services flying over the Channel Islands near the United Kingdom on April 23, 2007. The pilot, Captain Ray Bowyer, filed a near-miss report on the incident.
With a plethora of examples of such demonstrably flagrant disregard for the safety and lives of human beings, it becomes obvious that whatever alien race is visiting this planet holds the Human Race in about the same regard as we do the lower primates that we capture, remove from their native surroundings, experiment upon, then disregard in favor of the next candidate. We cannot consider ourselves an advancing race if we allow representatives of other races to dictate to us our inalienable rights. If they are inalienable, then no one has the right to obfuscate or eliminate them.
Do earthly standards apply in the galactic community? This is an age old question, and usually revolves around the religious belief system of the individual. If the individual has no belief in a higher power, then this becomes totally subjective. Whatever the individual desires from one moment to the next is final. Alternately, if the individual believes that God designed and created the universe and those within it, then those rights we believe are intrinsically human are in actuality Sentience Rights, God-given, wholly irrevocable, and uniformly encompassing all sentient beings.
This said, the extension of rights is not a one-way street. All sentient beings deserve the same rights of freedom and pursuit of life and happiness, as long as the application of said rights does not infringe on other sentient beings“ self same rights. One party cannot demand the full extension of rights to the obfuscation or detriment of others.
As a race burgeoning toward advancement, in other words growing into adulthood, Mankind deserves and must demand respect from any and all other civilizations. On the same token, Mankind must extend to any and all other civilizations the same respect. Mankind cannot, on the one hand, kidnap representatives of other races and subject them to the degradation of forced experimentation, interrogation, the withholding of medical assistance and repatriation, just as Mankind must demand that representatives of other civilizations do not endanger, kidnap, and experiment upon the unwilling. Both the demand for respect and the extension of the same is crucial to truly developing into the advanced race Mankind dreams of becoming.
