Border Accident Results in Desert Fatality: Illegal Immigration Issue and Responsibilty Questioned
The Border Patrol agent who was patrolling a desert area 10 miles southeast of Dateland was driving with high-beam headlights illuminated as well as a "sign-cutting" light.
On a four wheel drive patrol vehicle, the ?sign cutting? spot light is used to illuminate footprints of people crossing into the United States illegally.
Day operation or night, tracking operations in a vehicle are normal ?walking? speeds to observe the terrain.
Voices were heard and the agent stopped to investigate.
Upon searching the area, the agent discovered that two individuals had concealed themselves behind a low-lying bush, directly in the path of the agent?s vehicle, in an attempt to avoid apprehension. The aliens were not visible to the agent," the press release stated.
The agent provided first aid immediately and contacted other medical units, however, Cruz-Morales died at the scene from the injuries she sustained. Her father, 26-year-old Juan Cruz-Torralva, was flown to Yuma Regional Medical Center for spinal injuries.
Reckless endangerment charges against Juan Cruz-Torralva who crossed the Border Illegally with a minor were declined on March 13, 2006 by the Yuma County Attorney?s Office. Torralva will be returned to Mexico. The Mexican Consulate will arrange for the body of his daughter to be shipped to a Oxacan village.
OPINION and QUESTION:: Who is responsible and accepts the blame for the senseless death of a child along the Border? The Illegal Immigration Crisis Nationwide?
PARENTS: The father who crosses a hostile desert with his young daughter? Year after year, parents and strangers place minor children in jeopardy by hazardous desert entry points, Summer and Winter. Most cross illegally in search of employment or the promise of employment.
GOVERNMENTS: The Mexican Government ? President Fox encourages illegal immigration into the United States and will do nothing to curtail the problem.
The United States Government ? President Bush also encourages illegal immigration by promises of jobs, Guest worker veiled Amnesty to the world?s population in a quest for cheap labor.
State and City Governments ? Sanctuary policies, police department regulations insure Illegal aliens are welcome in society. No questions are asked unless a felony is committed.
BUSINESS, CORPORATIONS: Labor Contractors, open recruiters of illegal aliens? With little interior enforcement or fear of Sanctions fines for hiring undocumented workers, a constant supply of ?cheap labor? is rarely threatened by the government.
HUMAN TRAFFICKERS-SMUGGLERS: Organized Crime cadres that prey on humanity? They supply all human flesh needs from labor, sexual exploitation, prostitution to false documents. Whatever business requires in labor, they can provide for a price.
CIVIC GROUPS, CHURCHES: All illegal immigrants are welcome despite violation of law? All possible assistance is provided to render aid and conceal their identities upon arrival in the United States. Their compassion is escalating illegal immigration that is detrimental to society in general as well as national security.
LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES: The U.S. Border Patrol for enforcing laws established by Congress? The news medias of this nation see the massive illegal alien problem as great numbers of people crossing the line to work. Due to multi-thousands of arrests, yearly they conclude that Border Patrol Agents are ?uncaring, cold ?and do not respond to faceless individuals and human situations. Immigration laws are unimportant but priorities are to stop criminal elements or suspected foreign terrorists.
Armed confrontations with narcotics smugglers protecting a load of contraband is an easy task compared to the human misery, desperation of people who are not ?faceless? but very real to all agents on the line of this nation.
The incident in Yuma was a sad situation for all involved, the father, Torralva to the border patrol agent. The child?s death was not the sole responsibility of the parent but conditions which induced him to enter this nation in the first place along with millions of other foreign nationals yearly.
When the President, Congress and Senate eventually decide if the United States is a nation of laws or an international employment agency for substandard wage laborers, the situation may be resolved.
Providing 50 million dollars to Mexico in 2006 to protect our southern borders from terrorists, human and narcotics smugglers is curious to say the least when illegal immigration is condoned by most elected officials in the United States.
Blame for a single child?s death in the Yuma desert rests on many shoulders.
Politics of two countries create a never ending situation which defies all existing laws and basic common sense.
