Israeli Rabbi Blames Avian Flu On Homosexuals

Homosexuals have been blamed for everything from 9/11 to the breakdown of the American family, and now an Israeli Rabbi is blaming an outbreak of the bird flu in Israel on homosexuals.
Whenever a Jerry Falwell or a Pat Robertson blames a catastrophe or natural disaster on homosexuals, only a few liberals register their outrage of such blatant homophobia.
I'm looking forward to the day when a Falwell won't be able to get away with using gays as scapegoats, maybe I'm an idealist but I believe one day homophobia will be as unacceptable as racism.
But we're not there yet, and we have homophobes like Rabbi David Basri, who said that an outbreak of avian flu in Israel is God's punishment for political commercials calling for the legalization of same-sex marriages.
We aren't there yet, and I will continue to protest acts of homophobia, no matter where they occur, in the hopes that the chorus against intolerance will continue to grow.
According to a Reuters news report Basri said: "The Bible says that God punishes depravity first through plagues against animals and then in people."
Thousands of chickens and turkeys have been killed in Israel to prevent a flu epidemic and Basri is hoping that this will atone for the sins of Israeli left-wing politicians.
We have our own believers in blood atonement here in the states, who share Rabbi Basri's intolerance and homophobia.
Will any evangelicals join me in condemning the prejudice of Rabbi Basri?
