Success Tips -- 5 Effective Yet Simple Techniques
1. Get rid of stuff -- These days you can buy a product that promises to solve almost any problem, and some of us buy them all. There are products that will teach you how to earn more income, improve your golf swing, or get out of debt. You can even buy tips for success on almost any subject in book, download, or DVD format.
A side effect of this consumer oriented society is that we end up with too much stuff cluttering up our lives. Most of this stuff we never use. Sometimes we use it once, and never again. Much of it doesn't perform as we expected when we do use it.
We have books we never read, and bikes we never ride. We own exercise equipment that we've used only once, and sofas that we never sit on.
When too much stuff clutters up our minds and our lives, it's time to get rid of it. Cleaning house makes room for new things to appear in our minds, and our lives.
Doing this spring cleaning exercise allows us to have fewer, but more powerful thoughts. It also allows us to become more focused and more effective in our actions.
2. Let success come to you -- Stop chasing success. Many of us have a grandiose notion of what success means to us as if it's merely a dream. Numerous failures and the pressures of life often cause us to eventually abandon our dreams and settle for being less than all we can be.
Stop chasing success and looking for the big score. In order to prevent overwhelm, envision in your mind what it is you want, and then break down the steps into tasks that are easy to do.
Instead of worrying about losing 100 pounds, focus on how you're going to lose that first pound. Instead of dreaming about making 1 million dollars, concentrate on making that first dollar, and then the next, and the next.
3. Perfect your daily habits -- Create daily habits around things that inspire you. Choose 10 things that make sense to form daily habits around. Choose those things that juice you up and replace any old bad habits with these instead.
4. Complete your work faster -- For most of us, no matter how long we have to complete a task or project, it seems we like to put things off until the last minute. This rarely stops us, however, from completing our work on time.
If you can complete your work in 3 days instead of a month, then do it in the first 3 days and not the last. Then use the extra time to reward yourself. Do something with that time that excites you. Spend time giving to others, or work on personal goals or your part-time business. Procrastination is a killer of success. Don't let it control you.
5. Know what you want and determine your outcome -- Decide on what you want up front. Make a commitment. Decide to commit to taking the necessary actions, to following through, and decide to accept the consequences of your actions.
Add each of these success tips to your life, one per month for the next 5 months. Work on them regularly during this time until they are integrated into your life. You'll see an improvement in your productivity, your results, and your daily motivation in a short time.
