Introducing the unique new Atlas Olympic Sports Massage www.solihullsportsinjuryclinic.co.uk

Designed for Olympic Boxer Frankie Gavin by Solihull Osteopath John Williams, the Atlas Olympic

Sports Massage treatment is a unique blend of aromatic oils applied by a sports massage therapist

over tired aching muscles using Hot Basalt Lava Stones.

By blending 3 existing massage therapies, namely hot stones massage, sports massage and aromatherapy massage, the Solihull Osteopath has created a powerful cinergy of effects on the

physiology of the human body.

This form of thermo-therapy involves the use of heated Basalt Lava Stones applied to the body

which initiates vasodilation of the tiny blood vessels close to the surface of the skin. This allows the heated aromatic oils to be massaged deep into tired aching muscles after a hard exercise workout.

This treatment will help to reduce lactic acid deposits and alleviate delayed onset of muscle

Soreness (DOMS) by having deep penetrating effects on the body´s physiological systems.

Relaxation plays an important part of this treatment and the hot stones are used to keep the athlete

warm during the treatment by placing the heated stones in strategic positions around the body.

This will be beneficial in promoting relaxation and recovery following a hard exercise workout.

Soft tissue injuries will heal faster due to the increased circulation created by vasodilation of the

blood capillaries and recovery from fatigue should be swifter. The treatment is flexible enough to

not only relax the athlete but also stimulate the metabolic rate if required.

By altering the massage technique you can stimulate or relax the muscles and if using the essential

oils similar effects may be introduced, ensuring this therapy is extremely flexible in the hands of a

well trained therapist.

The warm oils are massaged into the muscles using hot smooth basalt lava stones which are kept

at an optimum temperature. The stones have a variety of sizes and shapes and can be used as tools

for massage into delicate or deep areas, working superficially or helping to break down scar tissue by warming up the tissues prior to deep soft tissue massage techniques.

This unique new treatment is suitable for everyone but will really benefit athletes because of the

thermal properties being used. Ideal for distance runners this therapy will be ideal for marathon training

Birmingham Boxer Frankie "funtime" Gavin will be the first to sample this treatment before he flies

out to take part in the boxing tournament of his life, The Bejing Olympic Games.

We wish Frankie and his team all the best in Bejing and want him to win the Gold Medal for Britain.
