Is Jogging By Yourself Bad For Your Health?

Robert Paul Reyes
Research by a team of Harvard University psychologists shows that jogging by yourself could be bad for your health. Experiments show that it raises stress levels and stifles the production of new brain cells.

I'm not a psychologist, I don't even play one on TV, but I question the validity of this study.

I find it very therapeutic to jog by myself in the morning, there is nothing like fresh air, a warm sun and nice scenery to lift your spirits.

Besides I've tried jogging with friends and believe me that's a stressful experience. Either they won't shut up or they can't match your pace and are constantly asking for a short break.

I'd rather jog with my dog than with a friend, he doesn't disturb the peace by constantly yapping and he doesn't ask for a timeout unless he spots a fire hydrant.

The Harvard psychologists conducted their research on a bunch of rats, I'm not a lab rat forced to run on an exercise wheel, I'm a human being who chooses to run for pleasure and exercise in a beautiful park. You can't extrapolate research conducted on rats to human beings.

It's not jogging that stresses me out, it's foolish research studies by eggheads that gives me a headache. In fact, I'm going jogging by myself right now to get over the stressful experience of reading about this stupid research.
