Some Young Women Should Stay At Home And Do What?

Judy Ramsook
The 21st century is upon us as plain as anyone can see, but there are some persons who would probably not mind taking a step back into the past, a few decades, at least.

It has been recently noted that a Christian radio personality came pretty close to implying that young women should stay at home and become homemakers.

That is fine for those who wish to do just that, for we live in a world of choices. Not every young ambitious woman might want to stay at home and do housecleaning chores all day. Then again there are some women who would like to stay at home and all that, but there are others who will flatly tell their future husbands that they are not the stay at home, housekeeping types.

Especially when they can put their non homemaker skill to some use, out there in society. Granted, some men would love to have a woman who can stay at home, cook, clean and have dinner ready when they get home after a day at the workplace, but in today’s economy, if some one wants a comfortable life, he might also appreciate it if his wife were also bringing home a pay cheque.

For life can be a real struggle in today’s world if only one person in the home is working. There should be more to life after all the bills have been paid and groceries have been purchased.

A person should be able to treat himself and his mate to say, a movie or a night out just for fun or as a reward for all that hard work he or she puts in at the workplace.

Nowadays though, it seems that life is about much more than paying the bills. Everybody wants nice things. They want the fancy car with the GPS navigation system, cd player and all the other things one needs to make his trip a happy one.

Similarly, when he is at home, he wants the DVD player, stereo, wide screen television with HDTV compatability among other things. When he is ready to go out, he wants the designer clothes and so on. All those things come with heavy price tags and monthly credit card bills that need to be paid.

Unless some one is a wealthy business tycoon, or millionaire, it might be sort of difficult to have all those things if one is married to or cohabiting with some one who is not employed. In addition, it seems we are living in an age which requires one to earn as much money as he can, for in some places in the world, the cost of living is higher than others.

Some men may not get what they want; a woman who does not mind staying at home. Still, that is no reason to want to send some of us to the dark ages when people who want to more than just survive in this economy need their wives and mates to also work. Moreso if the women want to work outside the home and there are no children in the picture.
