Campaign for Liberty

Julio Almanza
Wow.

Simply put.

What can I say? A politician who ended his presidental race for the Republican Party nomination transformed it into an actual movement for the young Americans who believe in restoring our Constitutional Republic. Ladies and gentlemen we are on the brink of making history. A movement that will surpass the hippie movement of the 60's. A movement that will undoubtedly bring real change to this country. A movement that can lead to actually restoring this republic through peaceful means. Now let us not forget that this will indeed meet with possible hostility by either the establishment or opposing groups who do not want to see something like this gain strength in numbers. So what will that make those Americans? Will they be the enemies of the Constitution? Will they be the enemies of the Bill of Rights? Will they be the enemies of America? No. They are merely going to be misinformed Americans, and it will up to us to inform them. As for the establishment? Well, let us just say that they are the ones we will have to fight in the end when they feel they have lost their spot of unchecked power. After all, this is an open, and transparent, peaceful movement done in the light using the tools handed to us by, what Bush once called 'a damn piece of paper,' the Constitution. The law of the land. The piece of paper that holds this nation together. Sadly, that has been changing. Of course, the Americans involved in this new movement will have to be very aware of what they got themselves into since the laws implemented after the attacks of 2001 are a lot harsher on Americans than they were pre 9/11. All for the sake of fighting the terrorists at home, Americans must endure police state measures choking out our liberty for our security. Americans are angry and when they take the streets for some reason or another, the cops come out to crush these peaceful assemblies with rubber bullets, tear gas, batons, and even horses, stating that potential homegrown terrorist could be in their midst. So instead of Ron Paul packing up his bags and going back home to Texas with that mentality of, "Well, at least I gave it a shot," decided to empower the very people who helped him in his campaign. Such a selfless act should be rewarded and highly honored among Americans. I thank you Mister Paul for your courage to merely educate the young and the restless in this country.

What we have here is an opportunity. An opportunity to unite black, white, brown, yellow, under one umbrella. I'm not talking about a political ideology like Democratism, or Republicanism, communism, or socialism, but of one single fundamental universal truth; liberty. It is up to us to keep the republic alive in this globalizing world where the rise of the Super states and free trade are threatening our right to have a say on the global economy, a say on the central banks inflating and deflating the currency to their benefit and to our loss, and a say to the unjust, unconstitutional, interventionist foreign policy the Bush administration implemented after that black Tuesday in Manhattan. It is up to us to keep the power of liberty alive by having the government fear the people when we all stand up against the Patriot Act, the Military Commission Act, the Federal reserve, a war hungry Congress, and a government of checks and balances. It is time for Americans to get smart about what kind of future they want for their country, and this new found campaign is one small step to regain back what is rightfully ours. And that is a Constituional Republic.

The global economy has been rigged to have the slave labor in China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Mexico, Central America, and parts of South America, compete with American jobs. Unions are going bust and workers rights are being eroded just so the American work force can compete with slave labor. These oppressive governments reap the money these American corporations pay them to open up assembling warehouses for dirt cheap, and all for the profit of these corporations and to the misery of the American middle class, the lower class, and the oppressed of those respective nations. Suffice it to say, we no longer are a nation of builders and innovators, but of corporate slaves. We have become a nation of sheeple instead of people. We have become a nation of ignorant consumers instead of an educated, and well informed, citizenry. For it is fact, that this government cannot function without our given consent, which is the role Congress is supposed to play. And in reality, we are to blame for dropping the ball. We are to blame for loosing track of our governments actions because we fell into a deep materialistic coma. We worry more about Britney Spears mental health instead of the troops coming back home psychologically traumatized by the horror of an unjust war. We worry more about a rape case in an university instead of being outraged that the government can now read our e mails without a court ordered warrant. We worry more about high gas prices instead of learning why the prices are so high in the first place, and who profits from such high prices. We have fallen deep into the ignorant hole and now we must find a way out.

So Campaign for Liberty. What an idea. Even if you are not a Republican or a Democrat. It does not matter. Why? Because this movement is for one thing and one thing only, which we can all agree is the most important, LIBERTY and the right to pursuit a life of ones own happiness. Even though this is just a "damn piece of paper," that piece of paper is the foundation of what this country is all about. It is the social contract between the people and the government, and what has happened is the government has breached this contract. And we the people should be very pissed off! They robbed our Bill of Rights with the Patriot Act. They robbed our right to Habeas Corpus with the Military Commission Act. They robbed our privacy with the FISA bill. They robbed states rights with the Real ID Act. They robbed American jobs with NAFTA implemented by a foreign trading corporation called the World Trade Organization. They robbed the nations sovereignty with the Security Prosperity Partnership, which was created by the Council of Foreign Relations. My fellow Americans, I am sorry to say that the people running this country are no longer looking out for the interest of the common man. They are looking out for themselves.

It is safe to say the system is shifting to that of the old Feudal system where the wealthy rule the working class with an iron boot. The working man is becoming the working slave to help the wealthy grow wealthier. Dynastic political families are winning Congressional seats, Senate seats, Council seats, and even the White House for their own selfish benefit. It seems that the majority of the politicians in office care only for one thing and that is power. Power to control. Power to implement unconstituional legislation. Power to oppress. Sadly, you see it on both sides of the political spectrum. Both Democrats and Republicans, conservatives and liberals, have fallen in love with the lust of unbalanced and unchecked power.

So we are at a turning point in this century. Something is rumbling within this nation that is about to explode onto the mainstream whether the mainstream wants to acknowledge it or not. The numbers are growing and they will have no choice but to acknowledge us for if they don't then truly the mainstream media establishment is in bed with the government in the same likes as the USSR and China. The media in bed with the state leads to unchecked tyranny. Truly, their credibilty will die and crash to the ground insinerating to ashes if they fail to report on this new found movement, that is if we gain numbers and seats in Congress. They are calling this movement a movement filled with conspiracy spooks, Paulistas, and Paulites trying to scare the ignorant in this country into believing that this movement is a lot like Hitler's Brownshirts in pre Nazi Germany. They are trying to discredit this movement to their best of their ability but they will fail. They will fail because truth will always conquer lies. They will fail because light always conquers darkness. They will fail because liberty conquers tyranny. It's not about Ron Paul any more. It is about Liberty, change, and economic prosperity for all. It is about restoring this grand republic. It is about telling the truth in a time of deceit. This is by no means the end. It is the beginning. The beginning of change. Sure there is the Obama phenomenon, which let's face it, is about him. The Ron Paul phenomenon is not about Ron Paul, it is about real people who are demanding real change from a grassroots level. The universal truth that all man, no matter what age, gender, social status, or sexual orientation are created equal is booming again in this age of terror. We still have the power. We have the numbers. We are the back bone of this republic. Without this movement there is no backbone, there is no republic. Our ignorance has slowly, and systematically, crippled this nation to its very foundations. It is time to regain back our country with education and empathy. Remember that our apathy is their strength. Ron Paul cured it, and now we must share the cure with the rest of the nation. Or else this movement will die in vain and our grandchildren will live in a world similar to that of the Soviet Union, Communist China, Mussolini's Italy, and Nazi Germany.

We the people must restore this republic if we ever want our children to experience freedom.

We the people must fight against a creeping fascism that has infiltrated our country.

We the people did not want war.

We the people must Campaign for Liberty.

I'm student at Orange Coast Community College and an avid reader of the news. I'm majoring in political science with a minor in film and creative writing. Ever since I was a child, I was always fascinated with politics and government ever since I bore witness to the first Gulf War of 1990. I was only eight years old, but right then and there the first question that popped up in my head was: Why did we fight in the first place? And how does one democratic country decide to wage war against another country? Now I'm twenty four years old and I'm still asking the same questions, but not finding any clear answers.
