Real security

People look for it by keeping a guard dog in the backyard; locking doors and windows; fitting a burglar alarm; having life insurance in view of sudden departure from this world. At a national level there is Homeland Security.

The truth is there is only one real form of security. That is in the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ. His security is certain, unshakeable.

You might be living in a humble apartment right now, but Jesus says there is a mansion waiting for you on exiting Planet Earth – if you believe.

And today? Is there a stranglehold on your life – drugs, alcohol, pornography, insomnia? Jesus says when you trust Him then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Maybe you cannot pay the bills, feed the family, but the Bible says God will supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus – if you will believe. Many can testify He has done it.

As a woman in a dark street late at night, or living alone, you may be fearful - but God says fear not, for I am with you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Do you fear death? Jesus says He has overcome death and is risen from the tomb – and there are Bible witnesses to it. He promises you will be resurrected to live in that mansion - if you will believe.

A tag-everyone, Big Brother world government looms ever nearer, but come what may, anyone trusting in Christ has nothing to fear.

Are you sick? F. F. Bosworth wrote “Christ the Healer” back in the 1930’s. It is still being reprinted. As a young man, Fred Bosworth had tuberculosis – often deadly in those days. Being given up by medics, Fred journeyed home to visit his parents and say goodbye before his expected death.

He met a woman with faith. She gave him a lecture while he lay down about to die. Then Bosworth asked the woman to pray over him. She said “I wouldn’t waste my prayers on someone who is going to lay down and die.” That challenged Fred. He agreed that if she prayed he would get up. God healed him, then used him mightily. In Jesus’ name he healed many others. “Hopeless cases” are being healed today – when there is faith. There are no limits with God.

Powerless Christianity abounds, but for those who have deep-down faith in Jesus, His promises come true.

Humans can travel in spaceships to the moon and Mars, but God owns the territory way beyond that. We travel only as far as He allows.

Why do we try to battle through in our puny humanity? Stand on a mountaintop and ponder on God’s awesome creation. We are as ants alongside an elephant. There are many things over which we have no control.

We can take every in-our-own-strength precaution, but eternity is a breath away, and there’s no way we can prevent it. When it does happen, God takes control; He has all of us over a barrel, so it makes good sense to get onside with Him.

How foolish to look for security anywhere but in Almighty God.
