How Humic Acid Boosts the Effectiveness of Hydroponic Nutrient Solution
Combine with Fulvic Acid - Both fulvic acid and humic acid work in similar ways in the soil but it is still best to combine them. They function a bit differently at different temperatures, so to make sure that your nutrient solution is constantly being broken down into parts that are more manageable for your plant; you need to use both.
Experiment with Your Nutrient Density - When you have increased just how effectively your nutrients can be soaked up by your roots, you may want to see if your plant might benefit form a more dense nutrient solution. As always, it is best to do this very cautiously, increasing the density slowly over time. If you increase it too much, too quickly, you may risk suffering from nutrient excesses.
Move Your Lights Closer to the Plant - One of the more remarkable aspects of humic acid is its ability to help photosynthesis. Your plant will be able to make more efficient use of the light, which means that it will be able to make more of the carbohydrates that it needs to grow to its full potential.
But, obviously, the ability to use light more efficiently is meaningless if your plant is not able to have a lot more light to work with. After you have your nutrient solution optimized with humic acid, try decreasing the distance between the plant and light to increase the intensity of the light for your plants. As always, however, you should make certain that you don't place it so close that it overheats or harms your plants. You may consider switching over to LED grow lights, which can produce very intense light with little heat.
Add Kelp Fertilizer as Well - The combination of humic acid and kelp fertilizer is one of the most powerful ways to organically help your plants grow in a way that you might have never seen before. Kelp is one of the hardiest organisms in the sea and in order to survive it has to grow rapidly and recover very quickly. This means that it has to produce a lot of hormones and vitamins that make it one of the most rapidly growing algae in the world. When these vitamins and hormones are added to your nutrient solution, you can see faster growth, bigger yields, and healthier plants.
Obviously, however these measures will only help your plants if your nutrient solution is well balanced. Before you add humic acid and take these other steps to improve your nutrient, you should do everything you can to make sure that your nutrient solution is totally optimized.
