Evangelicals Give Pat Robertson The Boot
Robertson's zany comments are not a result of religious fervor getting the best of him, his words are calculated to infuriate "unbelievers" and paint him as a martyr for his faith.
It goes something like this:
Pat Robertson says something ridiculous like Hillary Clinton is the bride of the Anti-Christ. Robertson is roundly criticized from all quarters; the wily preacher claims he is being persecuted for the cause of Christ. His followers respond by swamping his ministry with donations and finally he claims he was misquoted and issues a half-hearted apology.
Anyone with a modicum of intelligence figured out Pat Robertson years ago, but now even evangelicals are fed up with him.
The modern day Elmer Gantry lost a bid for re-election to the National Religious Broadcasters' (NRB) board of directors.
Pat Robertson, founder of CBN and a prominent evangelical leader, was one of 38 candidates for 33 board seats during the NRB's recent convention. The organization represents most evangelical TV and radio ministries.
Pat Robertson has a tremendous ego, I don't expect him to respond to this slight by turning the other cheek. Don't be too surprised if he prophesies that the NRB board members should be assassinated for insulting a man of God.
