Which Is The Better Economic Policy?
Are we ever going to learn that the Republican economic philosophy doesn´t work? It might have worked forty years ago, but it´s archaic and no longer feasible to continue its unworkable trickle-down process. You see nothing ever trickles down to the poor man or woman. As a country we have black-balled the Marxist system and other plans which seek to increase the equal distribution of wealth, but for some reason we won´t give up on the Republican´s continued insistence that their system works.
Isn´t it time to start looking for a system that function efficiently? Republicans are famous of course for their idea of less Federal government and more state involvement in our economic distribution. The problem with this idea is that almost every state in our country is economically strapped. In order to keep their heads above the water, states tend to slash. Where do they begin their slashing? The poor and disabled are targeted first. Take the great governor of Indiana, Mitch Daniels. He´s so proud of his recent war to balance Indiana´s government. How is he doing it? The Republican "good ol down home buddy" has cut funding on almost every social service organization in the state. He has created a Medicaid system that is almost unapproachable unless you happen to have a key to their bureaucracy´s door. He has sold highways and he has ten thousand mentally disabled people waiting in line for benefits, which translates into at least a ten-year wait for help. Of course, in ten years Mitch will be retired and living in his newly built governor´s mansion (built with his own money)…poor guy.
Democratic economic plan, what about it? Not a great deal better than Republicans, but at least the Democrats have a tendency to leave the country in better financial condition than when they were given it. Say what you want, but President Clinton did not leave office with a nine trillion dollar deficit. Much of that money has been spent on an illegal war that has no ending in sight and if McCain became president (no way man) the war would continue indefinitely. Does this idea smell similar to the napalm war of Vietnam? It should. Sure, we´re not losing as many soldiers in the Middle East, but we don´t have as many soldiers in Iraq as we did in Vietnam. Back then the draft was in place, today we are killing just volunteers. That makes it better, right?
I say vote your heart and mind in November, but unless your heart and mind happen to be stuck in another part of your anatomy, there´s only one option. Need I say more?
