Scott McClellan´s Disclosures and Criminals
McClellan´s interviews and excerpts released to the media both from his book and talk shows cast a dark shadow on McClellan who takes pain to cover-up his ´loyalty´ to Bush at the cost of national interest.
He has been with Bush in different positions since 1999 and it is hard to accept McClellan´s logic that he was coned over CIA operative Valerie Plame´s case. America media knew it all along. McClellan´s argument that he was left behind the curve just doesn´t make sense.
In all probability, with Libby´s fate still hanging in the balance, McClellan is double ensuring to keep himself out of the spillover because reportedly deference of Libby´s punishment is in return for keeping silent and until Libby gets presidential pardon the case is far from over and McClellan also knows that.
Those bracing McClellan for his ´sudden´ candor and love for country should hold their praises. McClellan flogged a ´dead horse´ but artfully avoided confronting characters like Rice who are famous for their infamous human rights records http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/01/washington/01rice.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
Iraq Study Group, UK´s independent inquiry have laid bare the tactics deployed by the Bush administration to lead the country into an ´unnecessary war´. McClellan hasn´t added anything new to what is already a public knowledge. However, it is hoped that he helps clear firing of 8 US attorneys in 2006 and use of pre-Iraq war intelligence before Congress (http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/30/wexler.mcclellan/index.html).
America should not confuse McClellan´s ´loyalty´ with ´political expediency´. In all probability the timing of ´What Happened´ is all about: 1) showing America that Bush and McCain are one and the same by shining light on Bush who is out campaigning for McCain to help him secure political support and funds. 2) Challenge McCain´s ´authenticity´.
It is opined that since McCain supported Bush´s illegal Iraq war. Thus, McCain is Bush´s chief propagandist, and the country should avoid falling for his version of authenticity, loyalty and truthfulness. Democrats are simply using the McClellan´s position on ´how Iraq war was sold?´ to send a message to American voters, ´If Bush misled the nation, McCain sold it´.
Somewhere in all this it can be argued that McClellan´s book might have saved the world from another catastrophe. There are many who believe that Bush might lie over Iran to push the country into another war. It is hard to reject this assertion because no one is disputing facts; it is McClellan´s loyalty to his boss that is fueling the debates.
Finally, McClellan´s disclosures show that how law and constitution is undermined in high offices in the name of country. It is therefore hoped that Democratic Party will use bipartisan approach to change laws to end such violations and bring the ´criminals´ to book in accordance to law of the land and help return of fired attorneys. Politicians and public office holders should not be allowed to get away with illegal wars, crimes against humanity and nation for want of laws. Will the Democratic Party stand up to protect national interest? One wonders! After all they are politicians too. Lastly, knowing what America knows now it is time to end two wars.
