Orlando Timeshare Deals - Tips for Buying Orlando Timeshares

I don't think there's any doubt that when it comes to timeshares, Florida has more of them than any other location in the US. It might even be possible to say that just about the Orlando area, since there are dozens of timeshare resorts near Walt Disney World and more are being built all the time.

When I visited Orlando in February, I went on a Westgate timeshare presentation where they were showing off their new construction. So whatever the rest of the real estate market may be doing in Florida, the timeshare industry doesn't seem to be hurting very much.

Of course, if you are looking to buy a timeshare and you already familiar with how timeshares get priced by the developer and how they wind up being priced in the resale market, then you know the savvy timeshare buyer is going to look for a resale. And with so many timeshares available in Orlando, it's fairly obvious that Orlando has the best timeshare deals.

In fact, some retirees who like to winter in Florida, but spend the rest of the year elsewhere, will even invest in several timeshares in the area in order to make the most of the beautiful winter weather without having to invest in a year-round vacation home. Now Orlando is not the warmest part of Florida in January and February, that would be further south towards Miami, but if you live in Montreal, Boston or Chicago, it is plenty warm for you!

Since there are so many Orlando timeshares available for resale though, there are a few things that you should keep in mind when you start searching for the best deal. The first thing you should think about is whether you plan on selling that timeshare a few years from now. If so, keep in mind that the reason you got such a bargain in the first place is that there are a huge number of timeshares in Orlando and lots of owners trying to get rid of them. This isn't any kind of big deal if you plan on enjoying vacation is Orlando for at least several years or plan on letting your kids enjoy some nice trips to Disney World or like to do exchanges through either Interval International or RCI. You only need to worry if you don't plan on holding that timeshare for awhile.

Now, it will certainly be easier on you since you bought it at a bargain price as opposed to paying a developer, but you want to think about whether you really want to be paying that maintenance fee while waiting to sell. So if you do think you won't want to hold that timeshare for the long term, then it is probably best to look outside the Orlando market. You might not get as good a price for a timeshare in Miami, Key West or Sarasota, but you will definitely have an easier time reselling it yourself in the future.
