Supreme Court Gives OK For Church To Sip Hallucinogenic Tea
One wonders why a conservative administration would be in favor of the federal government interfering and intruding in the affairs of a church.
Newly appointed Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., speaking for a unanimous court, said the government had not shown the harm in allowing the 130 followers of "O Centro Espirta Beneficiente Uniao do Vegetal" to use their tea.
If this Brazilian sect wishes to expand beyond their miniscule base they need to come up with a snappy nickname, after writing down their long moniker, I could use some of that sacramental tea.
Evidentially this tea is as healthy and harmless as marijuana, most drugs should be legalized and made freely available to adults.
Why should only members of organized or recognized religions be free to take hallucinogenic drugs? This discriminates against truth seekers, who don't belong to any organized religion, and try to attain spiritual transcendence through the use of a hallucinogenic like LSD.
What the heck, this discriminates against agnostics, atheists and other individuals who don't subscribe to any systematic theologies who wish to take hallucinogenic drugs for enlightenment or just plain recreation.
I'm glad that the members of the small sect in New Mexico can enjoy their heavenly tea, but I will be ecstatic when the federal government ends its illegal, racist and ineffectual "War on Drugs" and legalizes all drugs.
