Blocking The Ghrelin Hormone ..... Elhashemy's Broad Spectrum Luqaimat Diet Plan - Factor 15
1. Bariatric surgeries, including:
a. Gastric bypass, with its serious risks including a high mortality rate amounting to more than 1 percent.
b. Gastric lapband, with its high percent of failure in addition to its high percent of serious side-effects.
2. VBLOC device, a neuro-regulator implanted under the abdominal skin to stop the tendency to overeat by blocking the vagal nerves, tricking the body into feeling full. Anatomically both vagi nerves communicate feelings of hunger and fullness from the brain to the stomach and vice-versa.
3. Elhashemy's Broad Spectrum Luqaimat Diet Plan.
The VBLOC device which is marketed as the new hope for people struggling for combating extreme obesity is costly with its price over US$ 10,000. Furthermore, it has not been used for a sufficient period to reveal all of its side-effects. Moreover, its pace in reducing body weight is known to be slow. Another major drawback is that its effect vanishes upon its removal from the body so it has to be maintained for life.
On the contrary, Elhashemy's Broad Spectrum Luqaimat Diet Plan (including Luqaimat NUTPISTELLA which is a delicious meal containing Nutella plus pistachios in small volumes) blocks the hunger feelings with permanent weight loss effect because it alters your dieting lifestyle and in the meantime gets you lose all extra weight.
In 1999, the Japanese scientist, Masayasu Kojima, found that that gastric mucosa secrets a hunger-causing hormone which he named Ghrelin. There are four peeks for Ghrelin each 24 hours that coincide with the standard meals time, Ghrelin levels in the blood rise before meals and falls immediately after it. So a relationship was deducted between the increased secretion of this hormone and the feeling of hunger.
Ghrelin is widely believed to be the most powerful appetite stimulator discovered up till now, believing that it affects hunger in many ways. First, Ghrelin activate the feeling of hunger through its effect on the Ghrelin receptors at the hypothalamus. Secondly, Ghrelin boost the visual cues through action on the brain reward centers including: Amygdala, Orbitofrontal Cortex, and Insula. These areas are responsible for pleasure sensation. By affecting such brain areas, Ghrelin gives orders to certain enzyme that causes foods to be more appealing to the person.
Some scientists work on developing chemicals that can pass through blood brain barrier to block such pleasure sensory areas, yet these chemicals may cause psychological depression. I think that we need not to exhaust our selves by such drugs and chemicals. If we can suppress the release of Ghrelin from gastric mucosa we may then be able to prevent visual cues from affecting our brain reward centers. The introduction of daily frequent Luqaimat to our feeding behavior to be a lifestyle will lead to great suppression of the Ghrelin hormone.
Recent studies suggest that obese people losing between 5 to 10 percent of their original weight witness major health improvements. When I innovated Luqaimat Scientific diet plan in 2005, I advised my obese patients to depend on eating Luqaimat (very small meals) every two hours to block the gastric secretion of the Ghrelin hormone. The result were very encouraging, as after few weeks their feedback that they are not hungry at all and they have no craving for any type of food. Accordingly they on average lost 100 pounds within one and a half years representing an average of 30% of their original weights.
Nowadays, I advise my patients to frequently eat Luqaimat NUTPISTELLA as a therapy that can block Ghrelin hunger hormone, and in the meantime these Luqaimat NUTPISTELLA can create a hunger biological clock through having 2 – 3 Luqaimat NUTPISTELLA with a half hour intervals (instead of 2 hours interval in standard Luqaimat diet) before and after the daily main hunger time.
I will discuss in more details the use of Luqaimat, including Luqaimat NUTPISTELLA, in blocking of the secretion of Ghrelin hormone along with factors of the Broad Spectrum Luqaimat Diet Plan in my upcoming scientific diet book by the end of 2008.
