The Dieting Fluid Intelligence ..... Elhashemy's Broad Spectrum Luqaimat Diet Plan - Factor 14

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Elhashemy
In January 2005, I innovated my Luqaimat Diet Plan which is based mainly on what I call: Luqaimat training Technique "LTT". This technique includes in its first stage, training the person for at least three weeks to eat very small meals (Luqaimat in Arabic Language). By frequent training, the fluid intelligence and the cognitive ability of the person in managing food volumes becomes very well established.

Fluid intelligence is the ability to reason and solve new problems. Such intelligence is considered one of the most important factors in learning. In April 2008, researcher Susanne Jaeggi, of the department of psychology at the University of Michigan, and colleagues, theorized that working memory and fluid intelligence share common neural pathways, so training on any of them leads to simultaneous improvement of the other.

To help improving the working memory, and hence the fluid intelligence, I advised my patients to eat each day only two food items 8 times daily (four times of each item) as Luqaimat. At least one of them should be any kind of fruit and the other may be yogurt, chocolate, NUTPISTELLA (Nutella plus pistachios), or else. I gave them the option to change these two items from day to day. My aim of restricting the daily Luqaimat into two food types only is not to exhaust the brain memory center, and this will be in favor of boosting the fluid intelligence and the cognitive ability of my patients.

My approach of restricting the eight daily Luqaimat to two items only, goes hand-in-hand with the findings of Kathleen D. Vohs, PhD, of the University of Minnesota's marketing department, and researchers from several other universities. Based on many studies, they have determined that making frequent choices can be mentally exhausting.

People with too many choices usually have troubled memory, and this troubled memory can lead to weakening of the fluid intelligence, hence lowering the cognitive ability of the person to control the amount of food intake.

I will publish more details of how to train the working memory, boost the fluid intelligence, and increase the cognitive ability using "LTT" (an integral part of my scientific diet plan) in my upcoming diet book by the end of 2008.
