Humanitarian organization providing water for 122,500 residents in Somali State

The humanitarian organization Hope for the Horn (HfH) said it has been distributing drinking water to residents of five woredas in Somali State by allocating over 5.3 million birr budget.

Organization Chairman Abdulkerim Ahmed told WIC that it began distributing water beginning this month in Gashemo, Gelagi, Boh, Denod and Harshin woredas with the financial support it secured from Oxfam Novis.

Accordingly 70 rented tankers are distributing water to 122,500 residents affected by water shortage, he added.


State Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Bureau Head, Abdurahman Sheik Mohammed, on his part said the efforts being exerted by governmental and non-governmental organizations to provide water are encouraging.

He said supply of water is at present improving as 169 tankers are distributing water.
