Using Yahoo To Trace A Call or Phone Number

Evangeline Bruce
Search engines like Yahoo are great tools for finding out what is going on this weekend, how to dig a hole for a mailbox post, where the nearest post office may be, booking vacations, or any other thing you can imagine. Some information you can find is very useful, and other stuff is just plain silly. However, most don´t think about more than just general information when thinking of searches. You can use a search like Yahoo to help you trace an unknown call or phone number.

Searches like Yahoo can be great places to start when you see a number on your caller ID that is completely foreign to you. You may not know the area code, and you may have never gotten a call from that number before now. Just looking up the area code on Yahoo can help, as then you have a general idea of the area from which the call was placed. Even better, you can then narrow that search down to the prefix for a town or city.

You can also try putting the entire phone number into Yahoo search to see that comes up when you do so. Think of all of the different ways you can enter a number if you find that nothing is coming up. You may try to enter the number with dashes, without dashes, using periods where dashes normally occur, or by leaving just a space between the sets of number. Each of these may work, but they won´t if the number simply cannot be found.

When you do get more about a number, you can then try to search based on what you have found. If you see that a company name comes up with the phone number you have been searching, you can then use Yahoo to find out more about that company. You may find out who they are immediately, and you may also be able to tell what they want just by knowing who they are.

If it becomes apparent that you are dealing with a cell phone number, searches like Yahoo may not give you much. If that is happening, you may need to look elsewhere for your information. You can try a free reverse lookup to trace a cell phone number. The free searches can give you service provider and area, which can be very helpful when you want to know more.
