New Baseball Card Company Honors Past Players

A new sports card company is telling baseball card collectors to "take a break from chasing the next big rookie sensation" and re-discover baseball´s rich history with Knothole Cards.

The Cleveland, Ohio based firm has introduced its inaugural collector set to the public. Each set limited to 1,000 and is numbered as such.

The cards are sized after the American Tobacco cards from the early 1900s (1-7/16" X

2-5/8"), and feature players from that era such as Eddie Plank, Nap Lajoie and Jack Chesbro in a sepia tone glossy finish. The 12-cards of Series 1 are only available

online with two more card series to follow at a later date – bringing the

completed set total to 36 cards. Each limited-edition numbered series is priced at

only $29.99.

"We wanted to do two things when we formed Knothole Cards," said spokesman Chris Modarelli. "First, we wanted to re-introduce today´s baseball fans to the history of the game by highlighting some of baseball´s early stars — players that the general card collecting community may not know, or may have forgotten about. Second, we wanted to produce a beautiful, yet affordable limited-edition card set."

Founded in 2008, Knothole Cards is a independent baseball card

manufacturer that specializes in a limited-edition approach to card producing.

Knothole Cards took it´s name from the practice of peeking through the ´knotholes´

found in the wooden fences that surrounded the early baseball parks – thus catching

a glimpse of the game´s early heroes for free. With a sense of nostalgia and love

for the history of the game, Knothole Cards offers a peek into the past with some of

those players that helped make the game of baseball ´America´s favorite pastime.´
