"Why should I believe the Bible?"

Rod Smith
Many say that, so here are some reasons why it should be believed. When the Bible predicts something it always happens.

For example: in the Old Testament we read in Isaiah of the coming of Jesus. It´s in chapter 53 (written hundreds of years before the event) and it describes Jesus nailed to the cross.

Two thousand years ago the Bible predicted the human condition and attitude in the last days – we´re in them now. Here´s what it says:

"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

"For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

"Unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self control, brutal, despisers of those that are good,

"Traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."

It´s an accurate description of today, and it´s evident as we look around. By the way, that "form of godliness" describes the "religion" of today, much of which has no Holy Spirit power.

Are we in the last days? Yes indeed. The last Book of the Bible – Revelation – forecasts a system whereby no-one can buy or sell without a mark on the hand or forehead. The electronic technology to do it (being trialled now) is described in my previous article "Christians: use your freedom." The system will control everyone´s buying and selling in a cashless society.

That was forecast hundreds of years ago! Who else but God could have foreseen the technology of today?

One of the steps (toward that one world government) for Americans to watch for is the crash of the dollar. Close, wouldn´t you say? Then to save the day will come the North American Union: a tripartite government comprising the US, Canada and Mexico. The plans for that are in place now, and the new currency will be the Amero, though that name could change. Kinda like the Euro huh? The great democratic United States that older people knew will be unrecognizable.

So what can we gather from all this? That the Bible is truth, that when we read "Be sure your sins will find you out," that´s exactly what will happen.

The returning Jesus will not be the cute baby in a manger, or the humble adult loving everyone - as He is promoted now - but as our judge. His eyes will be like fire, the Bible says. He will be part of God´s wrath and justice on a sinful world. Remember that God once flooded the world but saved righteous Noah and his family.

The Lord is being patient with us right now, but that patience will end.

Revelation tells us that God´s wrath will be poured out in a awesome and terrible way on those who embrace the coming "mark" and one world government - which is satan-inspired.

The only way to be safe amidst those coming events is to repent of sin (God says we are all sinners) and put trust and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ – no matter what. The days when we are able to do it grow fewer. Even today, eternity is a breath away.
