It's pretty obvious that the PSP is a very convenient, fantastic and fun product. It is by far the best portable game device we've ever seen. However, there is a very real issue of the pricing of games, and most people are unaware of the fact that the Internet is an excellent resource of finding free PSP games easily, safely, and legally. All you need to do is ensure that you have some good sized memory cards, then download to your heart's content and enjoy games directly from your PSP that are just like the UMD versions.
You have more than one option when it comes to downloading free PSP games. Let's look at these options individually :
Free Sites
Sites that offer you free games without registration, etc. can be an excellent resource. Generally, though, the choices of games you can download are very limited and can also be very old. A serious PSP gamer will probably not be very interested in these sites. But thankfully this is not your only option. Another problem with these sites is that there is the possibility that your PC or laptop will contract Spyware or viruses from the downloads (or from the site.) A site that is safe and without pop-ups or Spyware may be hard to find. You've got to know where to look. But even then, you may not be too pleased with the quality of the download altogether.
Pay-Per-Download Sites
Pay per download offers you a much more safer option, with a wider variety and newer games. There are some downsides, however. First, it can be heavy on your pocket - although notably cheaper than packaged games, it can still end up being quite expensive after you have downloaded all the games you are looking for. Second, what if you've payed for a game and find yourself disappointed with it? There is no refund here. If you are looking for only a few, specific games, then pay-per download can be a good option. But a serious PSP gamer may, once again, not be entirely happy with this option.
Membership Sites
In reality, membership sites actually offer you the best option and value for money. You pay a once-off membership fee, and have access to download as many games as you want. Membership sites offer you faster downloads with the assurance that the downloads (and the site) are safe, and also the quality of the games is of the kind that a serious gamer would be looking for. Many of these sites also offer specials to members and come with many other benefits. Not only will you find high quality games, but also unique games. And the price of the membership fee is laughable when you look at the benefits, or when you compare it to buying packaged games or using a pay-per-download site. This is notably the best option for serious PSP gamers. Here, you are not starved for choice!
